What do you think is happening? Dumping fuel over uninhabited land....then will make an attempt to land at an airport? Last Edited by nutmeg on 03/09/2017 01:59 PM |

I was a flight attendant, not a pilot. What does this mean? "they also declared sqwuak #7700." I just googled: It's an Inflight Emergency. What is the significance of “Squawking 7700”? Declaring an emergency means the crew determines they have an “urgency” or “distress” situation. “Urgency” means the crew is concerned about the safety of the flight and needs timely (but not necessarily immediate) assistance. A “distress” condition means that the flight is in serious and/or imminent danger and requires immediate assistance. This is what I found regarding fuel... (There are different versions of 737's so this is approximate) Fuel capacity: US gal 5,311, 20,100 L Q: About how much fuel per hour does a medium-sized aircraft such as the 737 burn? A: In round numbers, a 737 will burn 5,000 pounds (750 gallons) an hour. |

Maybe the landing gears shafted, dumping fuel before crash landing? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73876020 thats my guess also, to bring down the fire hazzard. Looks like he's moving now and not going in the direction of Moscow! Wow...those are some mountains surrounding him. They'd never find bodies if he went down there. Oh wait...not moving anymore? Yeah....hmmmm... How awful if they went down. I'm never frightened while flying, and I've had a few emergencies where everything turned out fine (possible landing gear collapse, fire in engine where we used the slides), but I never circled for hours in prep for a possible emergency. What an awful feeling for the passengers. Last Edited by nutmeg on 03/09/2017 02:42 PM |
