Think the same performance as intel for about a third the cost at lower TDP and their just getting out of the gate with this new architecture. Ryzen is a winner. Server chips will also be a great value. So when the BS settles, yes i expect the stock to go up as well. LVX! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73861837 United States 03/11/2017 10:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Both AMD and Intel are throwing more and more silicon at an architecture that is 40 years old. They are trying to squeeze small performance gains per thread using massive numbers of transistors for more pipelining, etc. We are long past the point of diminishing returns with this strategy. RISC processors like ARM are the future. They run at multi-GHz and consume a watt or so. They only use around 40,000 transistors per core. Per thread performance isn't as good, but for a given amount of silicon and power, you can put far more cores on a chip. This allows properly written software to run faster with many threads. Massively parallel software is the only viable path forward, with many slightly less powerful cores running in parallel. That is what GPUs do, which is why they are so much better than CPUs. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 74426238 United States 03/11/2017 10:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just an FYI AMD has some new technology out that is leaps and bounds over what the other players in the market are offering. If you are a long term investor you can most likely double your money in the next 12 to 24 months. Quoting: Money Man Jr aka Alpha 73324854 I bought 5000 at $12.50. Only regret is that I didn't get in earlier. Do you DD. Here are some search topics. Ryzen Naples Vega Instinct. Those are the 4 horseman money makers. Alpha out But research and benchmarking has already shown ryzen chips are not "leaps and bounds" above the competition. These are new enthusiast level CPUs that are targeted towards custom gaming builders and the benchmarking shows it's actually worse performance than intel. Sorry to burst your bubble but AMD always releases their new generation first and gets some hype but intel and nvidia always own the market with better tech. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 70064516 Canada 03/11/2017 10:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've never used AMD products but I'll agree with OP that these new chips are very impressive. Not quite as good as the top of the line Intel but they are also about half the price so they are a very good buy. Not only are AMD making good CPU's but their GPU's are looking good as well and pretty competitive with Nvidea. I used to love ATI before AMD bought them out and I just purchased geforece 1070 cards for me an my son but the next time I need video cards, if AMD is still competitive I will definitely look into going with them. |

I told everyone i knew to get some and hold it long. Although i didnt have a name for it I anticipated the IOT push. I told everyone is was 10+ year thing. Glad i was right. |
