Any lifters out there? Need some help.

Hey guys, I have been lifting weights for a few years now. Not a novice and I take it somewhat seriously. It makes me feel good and its fun trying to beat your max and goals.
Anyway I need some serious help gaining about 10 lbs of muscle. I eat lean and know about gaining but not much seems to work. I have flat lined finally. I am 35 and 175 lbs. I lift heavy and eat lean and health and almost enough. Work sometimes get sin the way of food, but I try to make sure I get my calories in.
At one point in time I was eating/drinking 5,000 calories a day and still have trouble gaining lean muscle mass. I even was taking ON Pro gainer protein which had 1,000 calories per scoop. That and creitine did help some, but not enough. I'm not trying to get too big, I prefer to be cut, but I do want to gain 10 more pounds.
Please help. I even tried oral steriod pills for about 2 weeks and it hasn't helped much. Prefer not to go that rout but a doctor even told me a little would be helpful because of my age.
