Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72405993 Thoughts? Depends on where you move to. Stay away from Orlando. If you have the money or if you are set financially, move to the "Heartland of Florida", west of Lake Okeechobee, and east of Fort Myers. Arcadia, etc... old style Florida Cracker living. Some of the suburbs of Orlando are alright but the further north of Orlando proper, the better. Rural Volusia County is nice too. That is where i live. Near the NSB speedway. AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM: KICKING ASS, KILLING NAZIS, KILLING COMMIES, MAKING BABIES, BUILDING CITIES, EXPLORING SPACE, GOING TO THE MOON, AND PUTTING THE "CIVIL" IN CIVILIZATION SINCE 1776! ****************************** But I tell you this man, I tell you this, I carry an aura of "fuck you" everywhere I go and while I may not cause scenes I can sure as hell continue them and escalate them but good. ****************************** There is going to be a second revolution folks. Count on it - and it will be the citizens against the government. It will be damn bloody. It will be a war of attrition. It will result in over 100 million dead. The heavy handedness of the government - the fascists in code enforcement and animal control especially - have brought this upon themselves. |

Quoting: DuckNCover Now its overpriced and filled with New Yorkers and J_ws... Why don't you look at a State in the Southwest. There are still affordable places... Orlando was a damn nice place to live in back in the 80's. Really nice place to raise a family. Now ? It is a complete utter shithole. BUMS ARE EVERYWHERE!!! Even in the suburbs. On every I-4 exit. They all moved to Palm Beach in the 70's. I was born 1980... Yano I really don't have an answer. I can tell you I have the Detroit abrasive male big mouth - with a big heart personality, and that gets you fuck all in Florida. Maybe you'll like the weather.. dunno. I wish I was born in Detroit or grew up there cuz in FL there is no community or neighborhoods.. So basicly grew up in Michigan. A favorite Aunt lived in Lincoln Park. We visited her often. It was safe and beautiful then ... now it is dangerous to even drive through it. Grrrrrr...... Michigan is still a beautiful State. But not sure I would move to the lower part. However have considered the Upper Peninsula. As it is sooooo incredibly beautiful and seems safe. As for Florida...... NAW....... Tried that a few years back.... Hated the humidity.... Hated the traffic..... And wasn't fond of the people. So moved to Gods Waiting Room North. Or Vermont as it is more often called. The state is also geographically beautiful But I am tired of being force fed liberal granola BS. And "dang" the women up here go to great lengths to make them selves look UGLY. Guess I am too old to do much with one. But...... I still miss seeing attractive womem. Hope that wasn't too politically incorrect. But.......... Uh...... Whatever ! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 74542688 United States 05/07/2017 10:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Great place to live in some areas horrible in others. It's a huge state with different weather, accents, personalities. Jobs are tough in Florida. Tourist jobs pay little, teachers make peanuts, Realty business is not so great. Lots of medical field jobs because of elderly population. Cost of living for housing and food is low in general except bigger cities and waterfront areas. Anywhere from the middle of the state on down is hot and humid as hell in the summer time and the middle to northern Florida can get really cold for short spells in the winter. We saw 16 degrees one winter, light snow, and a wholle bunch of citrus trees died! Hidden costs that can add up are utilitiy bills because your air condition has to work like a non-stop beast in the spring, summer and fall. Expect $200 plus utility bills at least. Lawncares crazy expensive so find a place with little to no lawn because grass won't grow in sand unless you constantly feed it with food and then your green grass is eaten up overnight unless you also use a ton of weed and bug killer because Florida is loaded with bugs! Speaking of bugs, another expense is the monthly need to kill the numerous and enterprising cockroaches and scorpions. I'm talking the biggest, badest cockroaches on the planet, some are three inchs or more and everyone has them no matter how clean your home is because the clmate doesn't just attract humans because it's so nice, bugs love it too. If you have pine trees then you'll have scorpions. These are very small scorpions but the bad part is they can make themselves very flat and thin and slip right under cracks in your doors. The good news is these scorpions won't kill you but they're sting is like three bee stings in pain. Also watch out for all the poisonous snakes, especially the little pygmy rattlers that can slip into your garage, crawl into your tool box, and spring out at you when you reach in unawares ( happened to my poor husband). Oh by the way, hope you enjoy Florida! |

Jobs pay for sh*t down here. I am thinking of moving back north. |
