I doubt it is even about getting what you need. Plenty of people pray and don't get what they need. Do people need cancer or poverty?

I think it's about getting a sense of perspective.

It's a self reminder, but if you are asking for stuff and not getting it, it defeats the purpose.

It makes you lose faith instead of strengthen it.

That may be why the church likes to teach you to pray for stuff.

It's odd how the church wants you to lose faith in God and place your faith in church and government.
