There was no golden rule or morality before religion. Man had no reason to view man or animals on equal nature/statuses.

Without religion likely there was nothing beyond cause and effect and reasoning. Social programs were null and void.

The reason for "seismic" as I stated earlier is that to the core there should have been nothing to cause seismic activity. Not a single system in nature *should* have caused the initial seismic activity needed to make/create fault lines.

And fault lines and their depths disprove on every soil sample the lies about layers of various dirt being 5 million to 100 billion years old.

Peronally I think that life has become more comfortable in comparison to former days. However, looking at the world today, I think a great part of society has degenerated spiritually.

Since religious people started most science center a more fair comparison would be religion vs. atheism.

Any literate well read person, who has any knowledge of history can easily come to the conclusion that the answer to your question is "there isn't one". Every advancement civilization has made (scientific, medical, psychological, etc) was fiercely fought by superstitious people. (god types)
All you have to do is peruse a list of intellectuals who were murdered for being intellectually inquisitive. Look and see how many scientists where murdered for their "heresy", then later were vindicated as being correct. It's nauseating. Giordano Bruno was the beginning of my search, but there are many. After the enlightenment many scientists claimed to be religious, but that was often due to funding problems. The "church" had all the loot. If you didn't nod, kneel, and bow, you didn't get funded. There's been some loony toons as well. Who were great in their field of research, but also believed in mythological nonsense. For example, Thomas Edison was an alchemist. Francis Collins who headed the human genome project to understand the structure of DNA was a young earth creationist if I remember correctly. Just because you are clever with a certain aspect of science, doesn't mean you are rational or studious in other areas of research. Especially ones that are unrelated to your specific field. I often hear people trumpet along about scientists who are christian. I'm not impressed. If I take water in a cup, put it in the freezer, and make a prediction that the water will solidify...I'm a scientist. A better way to analyze the mental health of "scientists" would be to research the "beliefs" of the members of the National Academy of Sciences. Those MEMBERS of an elite group who are peer reviewed, and fairly well vetted to ensure they have a level head.
