From day 1 of the campaign they attacked and vilified Theresa May, they failed to understand that by doing so, they would turn loose the sizable contingent of Labour vote leave supporters, allowing them to return to the Labour camp, who offered all things to all people.

Anybody who understands UK politics knows Labour cannot get over the 326 threshold to form a majority Government without the Scottish seats. Labour Brexiteers were fed a false narrative that Labour could win and deliver the socialist paradise many could only dream of. They relegated Brexit for the offer that was never deliverable.

The people who helped win the referendum vote, have very nearly destroyed 25 years of grass-roots anti-EU campaigning.

I can say honestly that I am very angry with these people who have revelled in their own vanity in front of the world's media, they took their eyes off the ball and it remains to be seen what the consequences will be for May and her ability to deliver Brexit.

Shame on LEAVE.EU and the Bad Boys of Brexit... the ship nearly sank...and still could!

It is very confusing politics in the UK now ... from 'snap elections' to 'hung parliments' and top secret cups of tea with the Queen and minor parties commanding majority parties to headaches from the overload of statistics launched at you as soon as you are home from work. It has become popitics for the players and impossible to understand for the people hence this thread !

When she called the election 8 weeks ago I was as sure as her that the conservatives would win by a landslide. She hadn't done much wrong as PM and Corbyn had done not much for a while, and Farron even less.

Just goes to show how much things change in 2 months.

All she has to do is get this coalition past the government then she is good for 4 years - and I doubt she will listening much to the DUP after that.

Brexit might be harder BUT I cannot see labour blocking anything that is actually good for us.

She did win and we will have her for 4 more years like it or not. The poor will become poorer and the rich richer but I cannot see any huge policies such as more privatisation of the NHS, schools etc getting through with the DUP - the poor Irish voters will make sure of that if it is a confidence and supply arrangement.

Still at least she believes in science, climate change, isn't a racist or an outright liar and does some work instead of tanning, playing golf or tweeting outrageous lies and still has some respect around the world.

Last time I checked the number of votes May received was over 13.5 million, 5.5% more votes than Conservative got in 2015. More than 42% of the electorate wanted a conservative government. That's hardly a loss.
However this result was achieved in despite of barely any campaigning from Conservatives and trend pushing on social media for the young and easily persuaded to vote anything but conservative. This is because tbtb do not want a hard Brexit and somehow they have purposely twisted this election into some sort of excuse to con the British people out of a hard Brexit.
We are being royally fucked over.
