Anonymous Coward User ID: 236218 United States 05/13/2007 11:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here is a link.... [link to www.museumoftalkingboards.com] it must not be a Parker Brothers then. If it is she lied to you. Actually the precursors to the Ouija board go all the way back to China before the birth of Confucius (c. 551 B.C.), and in Greece during the time of Pythagoras (c. 540 B.C.)The more modern version we have now days is do to the inventions of the 1800's. There is nothing in the board itself that is inheritably evil, it is the point of focus and what they attract, it is like having a phone booth in your house that accepts collect calls from anyone, no matter who they are. Even serial killers. They attract inter-dimensional entities that are not good as far as angelic, they are lower level. |

Exactly, while I know not all people have had bad experiences they really are not toys and should not be sold as such. They do not have any experience with this and unless the daughter has old food, mildewy clothes, or a dead mouse in her room it sounds like she has attracted a lower level entity already. It will smell usually like decay. |

Yes, sell it (but only if you can sell it fast) Athought I'd find somewhere other than my house to store it. I can find just about anything on ebay. That's where I get my japanese clothes and I got my japanese robot toy. It's so adorable. Anyway, I really would not want anyone to have that thing just for the fact I wouldn't want them to have bad experiences also. Mostly dark, angry spirits and demons hang around those boards. I can't go near one because I can feel those things hanging around. I don't like it. But hey, I bet a rich collector would want it just for the sheer aesthetics of it. So, he/she might not have any problems and might hopefully be too closed off from it. Dreams will begin as they fade into chaos. |

gsbltd User ID: 235538 United States 05/14/2007 01:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not ALL Ouija boards fetch high dollars. Visit the link thoughtfully provided by another poster.... the Museum of Talking Boards is quite informative and that's where I was able to date my own old board back to the 1940's. If it's a classic 'Wm. Fuld' design with a wooden board and planchette [instead of masonite/plastic] chances are it'll be at least 50 years old. NOW: about the incarnate evil involved; that same, informed poster was quite correct - it IS rather like a telephone line that takes all calls, so be careful who you answer. I've owned several boards over the years with only rare problems; they've predicted births, marriages, deaths and everything in-between. I've even been able to document the spirit of one particularly responsive board as having actually lived at the time and place he claimed! My current board was hidden away in a dusty old attic for over 50 yrs and this exhile REALLY pissed off the spirit: a 5 yr old girl named 'Jennie.' Jennie is the meanest spirit I've ever encountered with a Ouija Board [BTW: OUIJA comes from the French & German words meaning YES - "oui & ja." They've also been variously called 'message boards', 'talking boards' and 'spirit boards.']. I had one particlarly nasty encounter with Jennie: she was just being really bratty and foul and I threatened to burn the board as mentioned above. She calmed down -but a few days later when I picked up the board again, it had a small crack all the way through the wood and a smoky discoloration around the edges of the alphabet like it had been slightly scorched; it didn't bother me in the least... just gave the board more character! Eventually I framed Jennie's board and sealed her under glass with freshly-cut Eucalyptus; a gypsy suggested I try this and it seemed to calm her down considerably and I've had no further problems with her. I padded the back of the frame and still chat with her from time to time. You don't need a manufactured board to converse with the spirits; a simple piece of paper with an alphabet written on it and an upside-down glass will also work depending upon the power of your concentration; and YES: I can control a board by myself - you don't need several people to converse... it just makes plausible denial easier! If you DO find an illustration of your board at the link, you'll likely find a buyer on EBAY, especially if it's quite old, ornate and in good condition.... some of those old boards are truly works of art depicting Swamis and arcane symbology galore - they make GREAT wall hangings if you don't care to risk your soul!!! LOL!! |

gsbltd User ID: 235538 United States 05/14/2007 10:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As I stated in my post above, not ALL boards are created equal; I just checked the EBAY site listed in the previous link... out of 133 offerings [most called 'vintage' and dating from the 60's-70's] there were only TWO that were actually old and very good values [the Wm Fuld's with the printing on the BACKS of the board - these do indeed date from the 20's and $39.99 is a very reasonable price if they include the planchette]. I had to chuckle when I saw some of the listings: one board was advertised as dating from '1946' -complete with a story about how Mommy wouldn't let her kiddies play with it! Trouble is: the planchette is ivory plastic and dates from the Kennedy-era. But, since the design on the face of the board remained virtually unchanged from the late 30's to the present day it'd STILL make a good-looking wall hanging and guaranteed to start conversations~~~ whether earth or 'astral' based! |
