WTF! Gardening and cookery classes to be prescribed to treat depression under crackdown to slash drug prescriptions

Having your hands in the dirt can help with depression. Been told it a few times from people that use gardening. More so with hands in dirt then other aspects of gardening. There be something in da soil, loads of frass :P

Antidepressant/antianxiety meds do not save lives. They fuck people up.

For example:

People on Xanax are 10x more likely to impulsively steal.


3x more likely to have sex on the first date.


But but but. They save lives.

Nevermind the HIV that's been spread due to the lack of impulse control due to these meds.

Grounding your energy into the dirt is a good way the release pent up 'zing' that can tend to send people over the edge.
Salt swims also work.

If your fucking depressed and cant get out of bed then sticking your hands in mud is the last thing on your mind.

There are all ways steps in every thing we do in life. One simply needs to find the first stepping stone for the chosen path.

Take gardening classes ,then learn to grow pot ,smoke pot cure your depression. Just try to stay out of jail while doing it.

Side effects of smoking pot like paranoia and psychosis wont help depression.

I think some of my pain pills have antidrepession stuff in them, Tramadol, Amitryptiline and Gabapentin.

LOL somehow they got up and out to hear psychobabble and bs on the latest drug to fix it.
depression is for real ,mood altering drugs are for real
and there should be alternatives OFFERED by these shrinks and basic health care practitioners.
an authentic physical and work up most likely would pin point chemical imbalances as a cause and they could get relief simply by getting things balanced and in alignment
and being motivated to getting outside,interacting w.others and live.

Big pharma have made billions off of people's depression. I'm not arguing against people who need it but I do think it's overprescribed and do believe more holistic approaches need to be looked into. If garden and cookery classes help to change people's lives and move them towards emotional well being, then I think that's fantastic!

I take painkillers for chronic pain and some painkillers are antidepressants.

It is a good thing they are looking to solve the problem where it starts. Most people I come into cokntact with have no purpose other than the job they hate. If you have no passion or hobbies, you get sick.

Of course....then perhaps you do need meds if you cant "get out of bed".... Prescribing meds to ¬CURE¬ (It does not cure) depression is not how to do it... its only a masking sticky plaster.... You need to go under the bonnet to realy find out whats going on.

Social anxiety is a big thing with depression and structured environments are a way of alleviating certain conditions... It gives confidence and self worth...something drugs dont do.

What kind of chronic pain, and long you been on them??

Lower & mid back pain and sciatica.

Been about 15 years on painkillers

It’s such a small small small actual percentage of people who really need to be on these drugs yet they are handed out like candy ...

Cooking and gardening are excellent ways to gain self value and worth and are good for the soul

I think it is a hint to grow your own dope, you need more than they are allowed to prescribe. Tolerance fucking sucks and none of these doctors want to go down for prescriptions leading to death or addiction.

If your doctor has kept you in opioids for years as you say ... he has done a great disservice to your body mind and spirit...

Find a new doctor ... check into rehab .. and break your bodies addiction ... nothing good can come from long term opioid use ... only despair depression and death

They have slowed down tremendously. all the old bitties are whining about their pill habits not being funded.

Yes had lower back surgery.

Scar tissue made things worse with my discs and they are bulging again.

I have had loads of MRI's over the years and surgery and made things worse.

They call it failed back surgery syndrome.

ok...... when was the last one....... If they are starting to bulge again it needs to be checked.....the problem is narrowing of the spinal canal. Is this all age related or even (have to be blunt here) weight related??

Yes, that scar tissue can be a problem, on my third surgery to finally replace 2 of my disks, they went in from the front because of all my scar tissue...I havent been on any pain medication other than healing from surgery, but that was my choice, if i wanted them it would have been easy for me to get with the back history.

Sounds like you need disks replacement, I hope you are able to successfully get them. Your life will change for sure!
