The angle being completely off was only part of what was happening:

We have been seeing the pole shifts on Neptune and Uranus, global temps of Mars and Earth rising and melting our icecaps, the thickening of atmospheres, and the final icing on the cake was the recent ABC news article stating our whole direction of travel has been clearly independent of the Milky Way Galaxy:

[Our own galaxy is too dim and now so stretched out like pulled taffy that it can only be properly viewed at this stage by an infrared telescope].

Some things are requiring a little more than just what you see "appears" to be "the way it is.."

...for instance a quick quiz:

Q: Would you say the Sun rises in the:
a). East
b). slightly to the SouthEast
c). both depending on the season
d). none of the above

[answer below]

Answer-- the Sun doesn't rise at all. What appears to be the Sun's movement across the sky is an optical illusion created by the imperceptable turning of the Earth beneath your feet at 1000 mph.

Not a dumb question...

A). as the curezone article is written for both wide release and also for us all to be able show and tell our relatives -- we can draw directly from it for answers, and to spark our cognitive thought processes. Helping to make clear to each -- how and where even slower changes like ocean levels rising from icecaps melting etc. and even potential displacement of such in a lapping over coastlines for quicker changes as we have all heard predicted for as long as we have all been alive...

I don't see the ending of the Mayan calendar as the end of time or the end of the world, but simply the changing of the accurate read and reference point as the Pleiades star cluster from vantage point Earth for drawing up the calendar into something that could then not be drawn up ahead of time with the same degree of accuracy. If the authors of the Mayan calendar could not predict when the calendar could be started again -- predictably enough to know when the new stabilized positioning would be arrived at-- yet somehow they knew this all was scheduled... then as-they-say--

--we are ALL on a New Voyage of Discovery...

--"It's not a 'JOB' ... it's an Adventure!

You know how the song goes...

Don't Woorry--

to quote the Curezone article:

"This is all newer information... and yes it is fact. How fast we turn and exactly where and how fast the changes are going to happen are simply not predictable. We have never joined a new galaxy before as a solar system like this."

[link to curezone.com]

BREAKTHROUGH SURPRISE DISCOVERIES:

The new understanding is that we (as a solar system) were not ever directly a part of the Milky Way.

If you go outside and look you will see that it is actually sideways in the night sky....

We are part of a smaller galaxy that the Milky Way has put the 'come hither' on and we are just now going to actually turn and join with the Milky way after some 2 billion years of circling around it at a near right angle as part of our parent galaxy called the Sagittarius Dwarf.

Sagittarius Dwarf is now so stretched out that it has lost gravitational hold and cohesiveness to our solar system and we will finally join the "sideways in the sky" Milky Way for the first time in our history. Our solar system is apparently going to finally take a right angle turn for the first time in history and start going around in the Milky Way whirlpool. This is all newer information... and yes it is fact. How fast we turn and exactly where and how fast the changes are going to happen are simply not predictable. We have never joined a new galaxy before as a solar system like this.

GLOBAL CHANGE: A PERMANENT FACT OF LIFE HERE ON EARTH

Life on Earth has already managed to survive no less than eight passages both around and through the higher energy equatorial plane of the Milky Way according to the carbon dated historical time line, and the rather than being something to fear -- we may actually have that to thank for providing the building blocks of the tremendously rich diversities of evolving life and species alive on Earth today. Primordial conditions may in fact have been even somewhat accelerated due to the vastly greater spectrum, quantities, and array of DNA mutating higher quantum energy harmonics as well as the concentrations of rare primordial elements to be found therein. There is so much that we don't know, but are clearly now on the road to find out.

All now points to the Milky Way where we even now are finally making our new home in a grand reorganization into a new galactic neighborhood, beginning with the global changes to the weather throughout the solar system, as well as the temperature and currents of our oceans.

CLIMATE AND WEATHER CHANGES: THE NEW SPECTATOR SPORT

When not so drastic, just keeping track of all the types and extraordinary number of recently building natural changes has become a bit of a spectator sport, as they are more often than not, the most interesting things reported in the news from day to day.

Let's enjoy the ride and live in the moment.

Re: Latest Deep Space Probe Discovery Substantiates Astounding Theori...
Could some astronomy wiz help with this question.

After reading the articles and thinking about the right-hand turn maneuver of our system, it would seem from looking at the infrared image that we are currently above the ecliptic of the Milky Way headed downward through its plane with the sun laying on its side and the left side of the monitor being our suns north.

That being said, it would explain why we can discover planets using occulting methods around other suns because we are finally entering the ecliptic of the Milky Way where most things should orient themselves to the plane.

So, the question: Shouldn't there be a void of planet discoveries in the direction we're headed since we are at nearly 90 degrees to their ecliptic and therefore any existing planets should never occult the star from our point of view? There should also be a void of discovered planets in our solar systems wake since we are also at nearly 90 degrees with these.

Thanks for any thoughts on this and thanks to the op for an interesting post.

A: While we may be on the completion of our last circling of the Milky Way while also at at this completely off angle, our current vantage point is physically back in with even with and into the equatorial horizonal vantage point of the Milky Way. At this point in our circling we are only different in that we have to turn our heads to get the same view as the any other adjacent vantage point already embedded in the MilkyWay.

You see--
If you were to ask the same question when we were way up directly rounding over the top of the Milky Way, halfway through the circuit above then your question would be applicable.

WHAT ? Life evolves through mutations over large periods of time unless 'prodded' by radiation of many types, then we see larger mutations 'jump' gaps and creates new species.

Are they saying that this will be a such 'gap jump' ?

For those who also like pictures (such as myself) to keep it interesting--

There are some brilliant astrophysicists who have been indispensable in drawing up the new star map, and without them I am entirely cognizant that we would not have been able to see the forest for the trees on any of these discoveries.

One such scientist is David Law. He did the original New Star Map and has completed a new one showing in depth the tidal streams that the powerful Milky Way whirlpool is in process of drawing in:

Re: Latest Deep Space Probe Discovery Substantiates Astounding Theori...
Thank you for the reply, op. I wish to clarify my question, or at least, to elaborate.

The equatorial plane of the Milky Way, though thin by the standards of the diameter of the galaxy, is still a reasonably thick region of stars. This becomes apparent through astrology and astronomy where the zodiac remains in position for thousands of years in relation to humans points of view as we approach from our angle.

We are headed in a particular direction; let's say the Constellation Leo for illustration. Some of those stars are tens, if not thousands of light years aways from us. I apologize. I do not know the distances of the stars in Leo from us.

I'm assuming the Leo star group is all part of the Milky Way and that its equatorial plane is at nearly 90 degrees to our approaching path. Wouldn't these stars, even at this close distance, be devoid of any planetary discovery by the occulting of the parent star and impossible for us to detect due to our angle of entry into the new galaxy?

I understand your analogy of looking to the right and seeing the equatorial plane and the discovery of new planets. I'm thinking more of not turning my head from side to side, but looking forward in our direction of travel and backward along the path where we've just been. It would seem that two non-planetary holes(as far as discovery) would imply those two directions to us.

It would also seem logical that the doppler shifts of nearby stars would indicate a direction for us. For instance, if I remember correctly, we are headed toward, not away from Alpha Centari, a planetless star complex. If I am wrong about that direction, my apologies. Just trying to understand some of this news.

Thank you again.

spock
Fascinating question--

I think that if I understand you right, it was a statement inclusive of the fact that although we are coming out of deep deep space and into the Milky Way equatorial plane, where all the action is-- (maybe a little too much action for some to be comfortable--) it is the simple reminder that we have already been through this equatorial plane eight different times in Earth's past and Earth is clearly not a dead lifeless planet now as a result, but quite the opposite.

What is different?

We will this time apparently make it our new home.

One look at the main cluster of our parent galaxy in the New Star Map and it stalled on the other side of the Milky Way [orange stream of stars]. Scientists have surmised that this is possibly indicative that the Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy -- as it is called -- is losing gravitation hold, dark matter cohesion to the systems within it, and will proceed to join in with the Milky Way as never before.

Will it turn on more of our DNA?

Good question.

These are 'anything' but "boring" things ahead of us.

June 12, 2007
Our Milky Way galaxy lies at the edge of a huge void and is being repulsed by the void at high speed. This observation provides astronomers with fundamental insights into how dark matter is distributed and the process of galaxy formation. Brent Tully of the University of Hawaii discussed this discovery at the meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Two decades ago, Tully and his collaborator, Richard Fisher (National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Charlottesville, Virginia), noted that our galaxy lives adjacent a vast empty region that they called the 'Local Void.' Today, thanks to the contributions of many astronomers around the world, there is information on the distribution of hundreds of thousands of galaxies and an increasingly detailed knowledge of the rich tapestry in the distribution of galaxies. Galaxies collect along filaments and in clusters, at places where the filaments intersect. Elsewhere there are empty regions called voids. Our galaxy resides in a filament that bounds a void. We call this filament the 'Local Sheet.'

It has also been known for two decades that our Milky Way galaxy is traveling through intergalactic space at high speed. The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) is radiation that comes to us in all directions from the time when the universe was a hot plasma, 300,000 years after the Big Bang. One part in a hundred systematic variations in frequency of the peak of the CMB radiation is taken to be a Doppler shift caused by our motion with respect to the ensemble of all other matter. Some of the components of our motion have been known for a long time. Earth orbits the Sun once a year and the Sun orbits the center of the Milky Way Galaxy every 250 million years. We also have known that our galaxy is being pulled toward neighboring concentrations of matter, particularly our nearest giant neighbor, the Andromeda Galaxy, at a distance of 2-million light-years and the nearest rich cluster of thousands of galaxies, the Virgo Cluster, at 55 million light-years. It has also become clear that there are very long-range forces pulling on us. We have a motion in a direction toward two huge concentrations of galaxies that happen by chance to line up, one behind the other, at distances of 200 and 600 million light-years. The relative importance of these two attractors has remained a disputed detail among astronomers.

In looking at the 2003 release which embodied the New Star Map, it was stated that just the release of the New Map in and of itself was answering questions that have baffled scientists for decades... this isn't even counting the new discoveries listed in the curezone links and that all this time they thought we were going in a completely different direction...

ALL past Science and History books, theories, and accounts based on these earlier references are now suspect and may have to be rewritten.

Just think about it...

This is going to take some sorting out to say the least. It could take years and years to sort through to correct and arrive at the the new referencing details...

I am glad I can just forge into the future with these new discoveries available to us.

I'd like to go forward with all the new data at hand, right on the cutting edge-- as it is apparently opening up into the three most pivotal discoveries of our time before us, and it is fascinating as Spock says.

Pardon all of the bizarre questions, but I'd like to pose another one.

Since I can look at the sky at night and know that there are stars above us and stars below us and realize that the galactic equatorial plane is light years across even at this distance, is there any evidence that our previous 8 passages through the plane has caused any rolling over of the solar system in an attwmpt to align itself with the galactic plane?

Since, from the infrared image, we still seem to be aliigned with the Sagittarius plane, wouldn't it seem logical that any re-orienting to a new plane would be a long-term event and not an overnight(several years/decades) event?
