A "virus" (or bio weapon) can live in air AND water...living and replicating in the water in the trap.

If this is true...you will need to add a little bleach to toilets and sinks after every use.

All the signs of a weaponized virus are in this virus. Make it able to survive longer outside while airborne and also while on surfaces. This requires a good outer "shell" to preserve the virus out in the open air. That, combined with the ability for it to spread from victims for three weeks before they show symptoms makes it even more powerful. The Nazi scientists cooking up a bio-weapon couldn't have done better.

Yes, but in this particular case some genius modified the plumbing and removed the U-pipe.

These are cases where people didn't like where the toilet or sink were located, so they put in new ones in a different location - and never built them to standard, allowing aerosolized droplets from the sewer system to infiltrate the room air... something that NEVER happens with properly built plumbing.

I always thought after each use, germs can linger in toilet.

we will just have something to toss in the tank, so it will be in water with each flush.

Maybe through the vent system. That would move the air into places that it shouldn't be. In apartment buildings it's common to use a dead space between apartments to run vents water lines and things like that. And maybe it's being spread by rodents or insects. It wouldn't be hard to spread in a apartment building.

It defies physics and climbs up your piss stream. Kind of like what happens when you pee in a prostitute, except peeing on the toilet is just as deadly
