I 've seen the freezer thing work, but the paper with the name on it was put in a plastic pill bottle, or film canister and filled with water before freezing.

Never heard of the 'go away' candle, worth a try!

Personally, I've tried envisioning a for sale sign next door, as well as feeling how nice it would be with wonderful neighbors living there.
The house is empty and it's actually more wonderful having NOBODY live there, so I guess it worked better than I wanted!
