Yes, because you shouldnt collect wealth when others are in need, your children are not in NEED. There's nothing wrong in saving a bit for a rainy day, but collecting vast amounts of wealth is wrong. IMO.

On a side note I read an interesting book on tithing and its apparent true purpose, which was to be used for celebrating God, a big ole party once a year. Perhaps most of us tithe more than enough. :)

True freedom is when you decide to go to hell with all your money, and all your other friends who decide to do the same, and then use all that money to Raise Hell and throw a good party.

my experience is something like this:
as i learn to give more of my stuff away,
stuff includes money,
my life seems better.
the Famous Amos cookie guy claims that he
is trying to give his money away faster than it comes in.
and he is making a lot of money.
tithing has nothing to do with organizations.
it has to do with attitude.

oh yeah, i forgot this.
tithe on time.
one week=168 hours.
keeping one day holy is a whole day,
not including sleep.
so, 10 per cent of 168 is 16.8 hours,
about one whole day, minus sleep.

If you do not tithe and them give additional offerings on top of your tithe then your soul may indeed be in danger take care

While the OP as well as the rest of the responses seem a bit more suited to a skit on the Comedy Channel, the fact is there is nothing in The Bible that speaks of 10% as it relates to the New Testament church.

Since 2 Tim 3:16 teaches us the scriptures contain all required for the faith the answer is no.

No...you will not go to hell......titheing is more than just giving 10% of the first fruits.....titheing can be done by giving of your time. Giving 10% is under the old law in the old testament....we are living under the new covenant from the New Testament. If you cannot afford to give money to your church....give of your time and donations. Help with a soup kitchen, donate old clothes, but new clothes to help out, volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, volunteer in a drug rehab....their are numerous things that fall under "titheing"......it is giving of your time and efforts to help people who cannot help themselves.....

No. Failure to tithe is not a "sin unto death". However one will have to give an account for the actions still, though they will not miss eternal life.

Also most people do not know what tithes is because of the ignorance the church has bred. Tithes is and has ALWAYS been a tenth of one's INCREASE and not income as the church teaches. There is a vast difference between the two. You determine INCREASE with a yearly calculation. If you make 10,000.00 the first year you would owe 1,000.00 in tithes. If you earn 11,000.00 the next year you would have a 1,000.00 INCREASE and would owe 10 percent of that increase which is only $100 for that year.

However offering can be any ammount you wish to give and blessings will stem out from what you GIVE from your money and not God's money. God's money is the tithe; it belongs to Him already and is due to Him. Oferring is yours to give. In conclusion if you never have an increase from the prior year, you would OWE no tithes. The Bible CLEARLY states 10 percent of all your INCREASE. The word INCOME is never used. Check it for yourself.

The bible god will give the churchs all the money they need. No need to fatten up the collection plates. If you want to give money away, give it straight to needy individuals.
