Re: Restless Leg Syndrome Help
I can't say what cures it but I know what has caused it (in me).

Hyper-thyroidism.

Antihistamines.
OTC sleep medications.
Bronchial inhaler (albuterol base).
Too much booze, especially wine.
Antidepressants (!! really, really bad !!).
Chocolate and Pepsi
Sharp cheeses.

So I quit them ALL, take thyroid meds only and the RLS is gone.

Thank God, because it was freaking maddening.

Pillow-screaming maddening.

"Requip" is a new drug just approved by the FDA, but like most, it does have risk factors. I would do the research on it before considering. I don't know of any natural remedies though.

No Kidding. A major fix of the RLS is to drink plenty of water. It is caused by dehydration. It was on another Godlike thread a while back.

Take magnesium pills, one a day. My Dad has hyper thyroidism, it works for him. Gave it to my Doorman as well, he is on his feet all day, works for him as well.

Magnesium.

Best (and cheapest) is 2 liter bottle of seltzer water into which you mix 5 ounces of milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide in water -- don't get the flavored stuff) which creates magnesium bicarbonate. Gets absorbed fast and EVERYONE needs it!!

Get the seltzer water really cold before opening, and quickly pour in the milk of magnesia (use a funnel and expect it to try splattering all over the place). Close the bottle, then shake up and refrigerate. Come back in 1/2 hour and shake again to get the white stuff in the bottom to mix up. 1/2 hour later it should be ready to use.

To use, mix 1 ounce of the stuff you made with 10 ounces of water (it will taste a little like mountain spring water -- which is why some spring water is so good for you). Drink 1 or 2 glasses daily, and your restless legs should calm down (and any cramps you may have had will also go away, your feet and hands will become warmer, and a bunch of other good stuff.)

Re: Restless Leg Syndrome Help
Most illnesses are caused by vitamin and mineral deficiencies. You need magnesium for sure, but also iron. It's best to get your vitamins and minerals through your food. This website will tell you what foods are high in which vitamins and minerals, and what deficiencies they can cause.

[link to www.naturalhealthtechniques.com]

Also, if you're going to take vitamin or mineral supplements, make sure you buy them from a company that gets their vitamins and minerals from plant sources. You don't want to buy mineral supplements that come from, say limestone, for example. What do you think that does to the inside of your body? It gives you rocks in your liver, kidneys, gallbladder, etc. I recommend Nature's Sunshine. I get mine at cost from my naturopath, but this is one of the cheapest places I've found to order them online.

Try some Marijuana. I know it sounds weird but just try it. If you don't know where to get it, there are more people around you doing it then you know.
Do I think you really care what I am saying - no. But the people who read this may and they MAY see through you shilling for the guy to see the truth - then where will that leave you? You'll just be another voice shouting about some dreamworld you've constructed either for money or by delusion.

Re: Restless Leg Syndrome Help
Make sure you have your back checked especially for low to medium amounts of sculeosis. My RLS is caused totally by my medium level of sculeosis which I did not even know I had until 1994. I was born in 1953 and always have had trouble getting to sleep because of RLS, leg jitters I called them back then. If you have a mild to medium case of sculeosis, the back treatments will put an end to RLS for awhile between treaments and give you some much needed sleep.

Re: Restless Leg Syndrome Help
I used to have RLS really bad and mine turned out to be caused from systemic candida. You might want to read up on candida or candidiasis and see if these symptoms fit you. Try a sugar free, carb free diet for about a month with some good anti fungals and see if it gets better. I've also heard that heavy metal toxicity can cause this as well.

Marijuana. Bake some cannabis brownies, drink cannabis tea or using a vaporizer are probably the best. But smoking it works, too.

Re: Restless Leg Syndrome Help
BTW, I tried the magnesium route for ages and it didn't do squat. Again, most RLS and related type of things that no one can attribute a reason for i.e. fibromyalgia, etc. is caused by an underlying health condition such as a viral or bacterial infection, candida, heavy metal toxicity or parasties. I know you don't know me and for all you know my word is worth shit, but I have researched this stuff until the cows come home. Mine was so bad that I could put my legs down and had to have them in front of me, whenever I wasn't walking.

It's always caused by another illness or injury. In my case, it is from osteoporosis and arthritis as the bones in my spine are compressing and putting the sciatic nerves and nerves down my arms under a lot of pressure. This causes "noise" when you get the conductivity tests done, which means the signals going through the nerves are blocked or damaged. Hence the RLS happens from nerve damage.

I bet she worked in an office or at a desk for a lot of years with her head bent typing or something. This also causes a lot of the damage. More so, than ever admitted to workers.

You can get RLS so bad, it is also down your arms. Sheer hell and never a moments rest.

Over the years, I've never heard of any natural kind of remedy, and any kind of excercise or sitting in one position for even a few moments is sheer agony.

I've used L-Dopa/Carbidopa which is given to Parkinsons sufferers and at night I add a Clonazepam and this lets me lie in my bed at night. This is a very uncomfortable injury to the nerves and it makes any kind of travel excruciating or having to try to sit through a movie without constantly having to move to try to seek some level of comfort.

Bullshit about dehydration or needing exercise or herbs. Utter bollocks. This is in the spine and nerves. Even the 3 or 4 neurologists I've seen over the years cannot offer a long lasting cure or remedy.

Vicks VapoRub will work. You can feel it sink right in your skin and calm your muscles. Doesn't smell very good though. But it will clear your nose out at the same time.
