Quoting: Your Huckleberry About 150 or so of the "registered members" are new AC accounts, as normally with 2500 users, 400 are registered members on at the given time. So a small fraction of the AC presence was motivated to register by their desire to have a voice. That other 70% is reading only. Watching. I wonder of those how many would be posting if they could... There is a name for people like you. Gold is the money of kings. Silver is the money of gentlemen. Barter is the money of peasants. The Clam Before The Storm User ID: 70481156 United States 09/27/2021 06:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I understand the reasons that AC's have to be locked out, and I support it during this time, even though I really prefer to be an AC. I am a long-time AC. I signed up recently to give a positive message to someone who sounded suicidal on a thread that was 'Members Only' posting. I had been thinking about it for a while -anyway- because I was also afraid that AC's would soon be locked out from even reading, given the climate we are in these days. I am one who is okay not saying much. Introverts don't 'need' to talk..unless you get them on a soapbox topic that is near and dear to their heart. I don't need to be 'seen' -in fact- having an account feels like walking into a party -late- where nobody knows you. It's awkward and frightening...especially for an introvert. Having an account also leaves you exposed to personal insults and bad Karma if someone gets a wild hair and takes a disliking to you or just wants to bully. Not fun. If you are an AC, you don't have an identity, no one 'knows' you and you don't develop a 'reputation' and aren't judged. I'm guessing there will always be people who prefer to be an AC rather than get an account. "Clambake! Gonna have a Clambake!" -Elvis |

I wonder of those how many would be posting if they could... The bolded inference is subject to a great deal of error, as a function of several larger-magnitude random variables. if T is total users today observed, presumably you're saying (400 + 150) / T = 400 / 2500 150 = 400 * T / 2500 - 400 = 400 ( T/2500 - 1 ) where the 400 and 2500 surely fluctuate a lot and not in perfect ratio. So the estimate of 150 could be way off. Last Edited by oniongrass on 09/27/2021 07:10 PM . I wonder of those how many would be posting if they could... it's about half the posting volume when AC posting is off... Not so sure that's a bad thing though. They can always register if they have something to say. So I was off a bit in my guesstimate but knew it was significant. There are those AC's out there who add much value when they post but they just won't register to do it. They are missed. The other rabble, well, nice to take a break once in a while from their contributions and I am sure they feel the same about me. Your Huckleberry |
