Have you ever done this? How do you do this safely? Is it possible. It's been 5 days, dr called in bactrim b/c he's allergic to all the other antibiotics. Do you do it with a pin?

Re: draining a tooth abscess without a doctor/dentist
F*ck.
The pain is tremendous and the pressure is unbearable and he won't go to an emergency dentist until tomorrow. I have him swishing his mouth with baking soda, salt and water right now. Why would you use floss and not a pin? Please help... I don't think he's having a reaction to the Bactrim, but I don't know if it's helping at all.

Find the "head" of the abscess, sterilize a pin or needle and gently insert. The skin will be extremely thin on that spot so don't jam it in there deep.

Spit out all the puss and blood, you don't want to swallow that, it's loaded with bacteria.

Good luck!

not medical advise but i've done this with another stupid cyst and i'm still here

find the pocket, pinch it hard with your fingers and poke where it looks the whitest, that's where the skin is the thinnest... just like a zit
it's gonna be gross, get bunch of towels and gauze and antiseptic spray, peroxide kinda thing. good luck

Re: draining a tooth abscess without a doctor/dentist
Bactrim is slow working compared to a Zpac especially in an area of teeth pockets. The doctor told me that as I already had Bactrim at home. There’s a bacteria killing solution I used after an issue I had came back and it was a major help to me. I posted a thread about it here before. You can get TSP off eBay or Amazon. Use a soft toothbrush and brush lightly then rinse with this solution.

Use only 2 teaspoons of TriSodium Phosphate (TSP), 6 tablespoons of Baking Soda and 16-24oz of distilled water. Mix together and shake.

Use daily, once or multiple times, depending on severity of the condition of your teeth. Use is a similar fashion to mouthwash -- rinse your mouth and do not swallow. However, you want to agitate this solution in and around your teeth, so try to force it around your teeth as best as possible for 2-3 min. I rinse with water after using the solution.

I still use this but cut back to 4-5 times a week after the first few months.

clove oil is kinda like what a dentist puts on your gums to numb them then they freeze your tooth with a needle but it will numb your gum and give you pain relief

DO NOT attempt to Lance this abcess at home, wait til the dentist and warm salt water every hour until then.

OTC Ibuprofen or tylenol for pain if that's the best you got.

Have the dentist call in liquid lidocaine for him if he is in that much discomfort, ffs.

Chewy.com we’ve kept any issues with our teeth and gums healing with fish amoxicillin. 30$ for 100, 500 mg capsules.
Exact same that the doc gives, it works perfectly.
One cap a day morning and night until the swelling or pain, or redness leaves. Then once a day until you are normal.

Our DDS won’t see us because our blood pressure is too high. Since we were teenagers. Nothing touches it consistently

Not a doc, I just know what works for us.

^^ This will kill infection anywhere it can get to. Saved me a couple times from going in for antibiotics. Anyone with teeth or gum issues it could help and works fairly quick, 12 hours or less.

Do Oil Pulling immediately...every hour if he has to until the infection is gone...oil pulling pulls all toxins out of the mouth. Look up how to do it and which oils are best...if you don't have sesame oil use organic coconut oil. Also don't eat...fast until the infection subsides

No, A sterile syringe and it helps if the person can do it themselves to make sure they’re in the right place and avoid unnecessary pain. May take a few pokes to suck it out with a syringe but pain will be gone instantly. A peroxide solution rinse several times can help before and after. May have to repeat if not on antibiotics.
A 25 gauge 1 1/2” syringe worked well for others.

I’m not a medical professional and am not making any suggestions other than call a doctor if you can’t get through to a dentist.

Yes. It’s used in many products you eat as a food additive. It’s an ingredient in CloSYS mouthwash as well. It has many uses in different configurations. You want the food grade TSP.

Re: draining a tooth abscess without a doctor/dentist
He did another rinse with baking soda and salt. His dentist doesn't take emergencies and he won't go anyway. I'll be ordering some of those things that were suggested. He's also a smoker, so it's even worse with limited tobacco. He's not going to lance it right now.

Hopefully he'll get through the night and we'll go to an emergency dentist in the morning. He can't take any modern anti-biotics. Amoxicillin will kill him. The Tylenol 3's may have helped a bit, but damn, this is horrible.

Thank you to everyone for the suggestions.

MY old roomie did it (international plant hunter). He used a hypodermic syringe and drained it out through his cheek. He said it hurt like 'a muddafecker'. But in the middle of nowhere who the feck cares. Suck the shit out.

I've done it. Used a hypodermic needle, needs to be really sharp.

Put Oragel on the spot to numb it, maybe use some ice in a ziplock bag and hold it on the spot for a while.

If puss doesn't come out immediately you didn't go deep enough, so try to do it right the first time. You'll want to poke the spot that is swollen the most where the skin is the thinnest.

Pain relief comes quick once the infection starts draining.

Avoid dairy like the plague, it feeds infection. Meats high in grease are to be avoided also. Water and fruit juices are your friend. Need to flush the lymph system.

I am no medical/dental expert, but this did work for me.

Face was swollen, extreme pain, the next day swelling and pain were gone.
