Yah about that infinite, money or rather currency is denominated in something. Dollars, yen, yuan, euro, quatloos, whatever there is some kind of representation of that currency unit.

The old days it was a gold or silver coin. Then we got the bank accounts and we started using their paper receipts for assumed deposits, bills. Then the deposits disappeared and now banks can make new loans from a promise to repay.

Even digital currency has a limit, the amount of energy required to store the entire system. And here is your hard limit, once the cost of power exceeds the ability to maintain a server for the amount of 'money' it stores, game over.
