When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!" -Revelation 6:5, 6:6 |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 708144 United States 06/21/2009 11:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not sure about the MRE's But what is true is that just about two years ago it became impossible for a while to buy freeze dried food in #10 cans. Specifically the Mountain House brand that is used by the government and has the longest storage life 30+ years. This went on for a little more than a year so it was a huge order. The people at mountain house even had it up on their website at that time that their would be no #10 cans of freeze dried food due to the large government order. So they have been buying large amounts of food to store but I agree with the other poster the mre's aren't going to last long a few years give or take. Quoting: The Chefyou are incorrect. it was very possible to purchase #10 cans of freeze dried foods, you just had to use other sources then mountain house. |

Quoting: BUBBA 704316The worst thing I remember was the hash brown cakes. You put them in water and an instant oil slick appears. The Charms candy were the best thing in those meals. |

Insect populations are on the decline and those bats LOVE MRE meatloaf. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 708138MRE meatloaf is indistinguishable from bat dung. Unless you can bag some Lea and Perrins concentrated degreaser. |

Quoting: JackintheboxSpeaking as a former military member who's eaten MRE's before, I'd say they're already past their shelf life whenever we ate them. That's why we called them "Meals Rejected by Ethiopians". If they're taking them into caves by the truckload, maybe they're disposing of this shit so nobody else has to eat them! |
