I could go into detail about anxiety and visual stimulation of violent images...but you probably know all that...

But it happens to me a lot in dreams...either shoot back or duck...or if you realize its a dream the bullets cant kill you...it´s a dream go bitchslap the shooter with a tractor trailer...good therapy...

Don´t be upset. When dreams recur like this it just means we didn´t get them the first time. Your subconscious/unconscious is just trying to get its message across to your conscious mind. It´s language is symbolism. You seem to have gotten that much anyway since you´re asking what being shot means.

Being shot in a dream means someone using "male" force. A gun is a phallic symbol. It most often represents someone "saying" things to you that pack a powerful punch. The symbolism of your daughter "being killed" should make it easy to identify. Who the hell has been saying things to your daughter that just "kill" her inside? Let´s see the whole dream is this:

Now you and your daughter are at home. Home means self. So this guy is affecting you at a very personal level. In other words, if you just had a run in with someone at work and left it there, the dream would take place there. But this, you bring home with you. Or this guy is PART of the household (was a part?) Someone you welcomed in? It´s possible since he knows both you and your daughter. But the house is interesting because you say you don´t recognize it. This could mean that you don´t recognize this side of self. That would make sense since you´re not understanding this dream. Now this could mean a few things. Either this man brings out fear in you that you´re not used to feeling. Or you aren´t used to being treated like this and therefore don´t recognize it. Notice how you "pretend" with this guy. So is there someone you "act" with? By that I mean pretending to be a certain way to GET your way? Or to get him to leave you alone? This would also mean that your daughter is getting the brunt of this. In other words, your subconscious mind (probably your very maternal side) knows full well the damage this guy and his remarks are doing to your daughter.

You leave the house with your daughter after pretending to be dead. Did this actually happen? Did you play dead and then run from someone? Notice you run "blocks." This would be saying trying to overcome obstacles. You knock on doors until you find another "guy." Did you do this also? Find another "guy" to protect you from the first one? Or is this about finding that "guy" within you? Trying to get access to that male part of yourself that would adequately be able to deal with this situation. The phones represent communication. You were unable to communicate what was going on. And again you keep saying "dead." Everything is "dead." So does this signify how you felt about the relationship? Was this guy not willing to accept that your feelings toward him were "dead" and not subject to being revived? The fact that this guy follows you no matter what you do and starts shooting at you again, means this guy is not taking no for an answer. No matter what you say or where you go, he´s there just making his remarks.

That´s the parameter of what the dream means. You need to start packing some ammo in your dream and fire back. But the dream indicates you´re attempting to do that. You just don´t know how. And pretending everything is all right is obviously not working. That´s why you´re going from one door to another in an attempt to find a solution. A door that you can go through where you don´t have to see or deal with this anymore.

Shot
To dream that you are shot, and are feeling the sensations of dying, denotes that you are to meet unexpected abuse from the ill feelings of friends, but if you escape death by waking, you will be fully reconciled with them later on.

To dream that a preacher shoots you, signifies that you will be annoyed by some friend advancing views condemnatory to those entertained by yourself.

I was shot several times in the chest in a dream once. I swear I could feel the bullets going through me. I woke up about 2 seconds later. Damm dreams can be so real sometimes. I dont think I´ll ever forget that one.

AC 12:05, my daughter wasn´t killed in the dream. Neither one of us were. And I don´t think it has anything to do with things being said or acting a certain way. I don´t even think it has anyhting to do with a man. I could be wrong though. This isn´t even a recurring dreamn, I have only had this one once. I just mean that all the dreams that I can remember lately are bad and cause me to be in shock when I wake up.

I was going to make a one-liner answer, but I´ll refrain. ;-)

I never gave too much weight to the symbolism of dreams. Sure, there are some symbolic things in there, but usually it´s just a movie in your head that your brain plays for entertainment while you sleep. So we should always question whether or not they truly have a meaning. In your case, although it sure sounds like a scary dream, it´s probably just your fear of losing your daughter, and your own life, coming through in a dream. That´s the scariest thing anyone can think of, losing a child. I dream that all the time. Doesn´t mean it´s going to happen. It just makes me more cautious.

Why you have these disturbing dreams all the time is another question. Without knowing your personal life, it´s impossible to say what could be triggering them. Did something happen to you or your kids, or someone you know, that coincides with the onset of these dreams?

I have a reccuring dream that I´m at a party and all of myfriends and my boyfriend are ignoring me. My teeth are allfalling out and no one cares.

No, the future Mr. OAW doesn´t have any guns...lol. I would flip out if he wanted to bring one in the house, which is why if he becomes a cop I am gonna lose my mind.

Maybe it means that you and your daughter will have to "die" as you are now..the dynamics will change all around once you are married.

Its not the commitment, its the subconscience fear that the relationship will fail.

DC, I am feeling stressed out because of wedding related things but not from the wedding itself. I have had people giving me problems and it kills me when I have to deal with it.

Dreams have a way of being driven by both our stresses and our underlying fears.

To survive, we suppress a good deal of our fear. This is basic. We couldn´t survive if we didn´t.

The brain, being a very well designed system, finds ways to release these fears. As you sleep your conscious systems are shut down and the mind is free to explore and expose the things we do not want to "think about" when we are awake and attempting to be rational problem solvers.

There is no way you could interpret me having a recurring dream by statement.

SO before you go and assume something you should ask first. Nowhere did I say it was recurring. I have had ALOT of bad dreams lately and that is what these statements meant.
