In 1915, Alfred Wegener, proposed his theory of continental drift...The pieces then slowly drifted to their present position. Not until mid-1960s was the theory revised and accepted by scientists.

Bascially this theory is relatively new...when I heard that the earth shrinks and expands over many thousands of years...something in that really struck a chord and c.drift sounded really stupid...no offence Alfred.
