Chat GTP gets Easter 2024 date wrong

Can anyone tell me why chat GTP can’t get the date of Easter right for 2024? Go in an ask it yourself. I got April 7 and April 21, but the calendar says it March 31. I saw someone mention in another thread they messed with the Easter dates this year, but can’t find any thread about it. What’s going on?

If you're asking Chat GPT 3.5 it's last update was in Jan 22, and Open AI did not provide it with an internal calendar.

You have to tell it the current date and that the year is 2024.

Different Churches have different dates for Easter.
31st March 2024 for Catholic and Protestant churches, and on 5th May 2024 for Orthodox churches.

Even if you give it that specific definition of the calculation of Easter it would need to have tables of Full Moon dates in its dataset covering the desired years, and even then it's probably a crapshoot whether it would accurately predict Easter...

Then why does GTP not say so, but instead gives false information? Why can Google give me the Easter date for 2056?

Also, AI [in its current evolution] is trained only to give answers that "look and sound believable" according to its training data, not answers that are truthful.

It's a subtle difference in many cases.

Sometimes it's fatal. For math, science, even basic facts. That's the constant warning about AI "hallucinating" facts.

You kind of have to be an expert already in the field you're asking it about to ensure you're not going to be misled.

Apparently few people realize that, and that's pretty dangerous...
