The New Yorker is a long-time liberal publication and it's editorial board members think that Bush and Cheney are war criminals. I read on another blog that FEC records show that TNY employees have donated almost $5,000 to Obama's campaign. I think it would have been better to place the cartoon next to the article about Obama, because New Yorker readers will certainly "get it" -- that it makes fun of smear-meister wingnuts and low-information voters. But placing it on the cover was a mistake in my opinion. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 446469 United States 07/14/2008 04:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's supposed to be a parody of the mindset that sees Obama and Michelle this way. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 64503Unfortuneately, I think they underestimate the denseness of the common person. Most folks will interpret this image literally. I've seen people doing it already. The average American is not smart enough to get that this is satire. They see it on a magazine and say "Hey I told you so" If you need more proof of that just look at some of these Obama threads on here. |

You don't typically see it at the checkout line at the grocery store or in the magazine rack at your 7-Eleven. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 408384Where has this guy been? And that's what this is. |

Ignatius J. Reilly User ID: 374624 United States 07/20/2008 07:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What is New Yorker magazine trying to achieve by showing a cover which portrays Barack and Michelle Obama celebrating with a fist bump in the Oval Office in front of a portrait of Osama bin Laden and an American flag burning in the fireplace? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 246619You can see a picture of this stunning cover here: [link to shatteredparadigm.blogspot.com] You didn't even read the article, so punch yourself in the vagina for being a good sheep. It's a commentary on the MSM portrayal of Obamas. The Daily show did a bit on it, they played every single clip that spurred the cover, to shocking accuracy, and each station that was responsible acted like they had no clue when they were covering...the cover, lol. Self-awareness, as always, optional. So many morons with an inaccurate opinion, so many unwilling to think for themselves or research. |
