I've seen people doing it already. The average American is not smart enough to get that this is satire. They see it on a magazine and say "Hey I told you so" If you need more proof of that just look at some of these Obama threads on here.

Well, no. The New Yorker is a long-time liberal publication and it's editorial board members think that Bush and Cheney are war criminals. I read on another blog that FEC records show that TNY employees have donated almost $5,000 to Obama's campaign.

I think it would have been better to place the cartoon next to the article about Obama, because New Yorker readers will certainly "get it" -- that it makes fun of smear-meister wingnuts and low-information voters.

But placing it on the cover was a mistake in my opinion.
