I know, Acolyte..but wait and watch. Miracles are happening. If you check the above timeline, there was no way this could have happened without what I call Divine intervention. Hold your breath, stay sceptical if you like, but hold the faith too....

Love to you

Israel has already stated they will never permit a nuclear Iran. Iran is close to having enough material to build a bomb or three. Israel will attack Iran's nuclear facilities in a limited strike using U.S. supplied "bunker buster" bombs. The timing is open to question. I would say before the end of 2008. Maybe sooner if the diplomatic efforts have any traction.

Iran appoints new Foreign Ministry spokesman:

Iran's former Ambassador to Sweden, Hassan Qashqavi, has been appointed as new spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Iranian English-language satellite channel Press TV reported on Sunday.

Qashqavi had served as Iran's envoy to Stockholm since 2004, Press TV reported.

He was also the ambassador to Kazakhstan, and a lawmaker prior to being appointed ambassador to Sweden.

Mohammad Ali Hosseini, who has served as Foreign Ministry spokesman for the past three years, is to take the post of deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, the report said.

China calls for enhanced diplomatic efforts for Iran's nuclear issue:

Related parties should enhance diplomatic efforts and show flexibility in order to find a negotiated solution to the Iranian nuclear issue, a senior Chinese diplomat said here on Saturday.

"Currently there is a rare opportunity for promoting the resumption of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue," said Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi, who represented China at a meeting here with Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili.

"Enhanced diplomatic efforts and flexibility are needed for an early resumption of negotiations so that a long-term, comprehensive and appropriate solution could be found for the nuclear issue," he said.

Saturday's meeting was led by EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and attended by senior diplomats from the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany.

The United States was represented by Undersecretary of State William Burns at the meeting. His participation was seen as a shift of long-standing U.S. policy toward Iran, as Washington had always insisted that it would not talk with Tehran unless it halts its uranium enrichment activities.

"It's highly significant that for the first time the political directors of all six countries with Solana were talking with our Iranian colleagues," Liu told reporters.

"It was the shared hope of all parties participating in the meeting that we find a negotiated solution to the nuclear issue," he said.

Both Solana and Jalili said Saturday's meeting was positive and constructive and promoted understanding of each other's positions.

They also agreed to talk again by phone or in person in about two weeks.

At the meeting, Iran failed to give a clear answer to a package of incentives presented by the six countries last month over the resumption of nuclear negotiations.

"We hope very much we get the answer and we hope it will be done in a couple of weeks," Solana told a press conference following the meeting.

The package of incentives suggests that Iran get a temporary reprieve from economic and financial sanctions in exchange for freezing its enrichment activities. Preliminary negotiations over a permanent halt could then begin.

"The package is supported by all six powers ... we think if negotiations could be resumed on this basis and finally a negotiated solution could be found, it will be a very good way out," Liu said.

Iran's Ahmadinejad, Russia's Medvedev talk on nuclear issue:

The presidents of Iran and Russia have expressed hope for a diplomatic solution to the nuclear crisis on the eve of key talks aiming to break the deadlock, media reported on Saturday.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev held their first telephone talks late on Friday, a day before the talks Saturday in Geneva, Iranian state media and the Kremlin said.

Senior Iran cleric rejects deadline for nuclear response
--------------------------------------------------------

TEHRAN (AFP) — Senior cleric Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Friday rejected a deadline for Iran to respond to an offer by world powers aimed at resolving the continuing standoff over Tehran's nuclear programme.

"Now that negotiations are supposed to be held, why are you setting deadlines and giving ultimatums?" Rafsanjani asked in a Friday prayers sermon carried live on state radio.

"Iran is ready to go there and talk -- say whatever you have to say there," said the pragmatic former president who currently heads two of Iran's top clerical and arbitration bodies in Iran.

"Do not try to find fault. Be patient and let wise people sit down and talk to resolve this issue in the negotiations which have started," Rafsanjani added, addressing world powers.

Iran is under a two-week deadline to give a final answer to world powers seeking a breakthrough in the nuclear crisis, after Saturday talks in Geneva with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana ended in stalemate.

Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States have offered to start pre-negotiations during which Iran would add no more uranium-enriching centrifuges and in return face no further sanctions.

The United States, which took the unprecedented step of sending a top diplomat to meet Iran's chief negotiator at Geneva talks, has warned Tehran of "punitive measures" if it spurns the offer and presses on with enrichment work.

Iran is already under three sets of UN Security Council sanctions over its refusal to halt sensitive uranium enrichment which the West fears could be aimed at making nuclear weapons.

Iranian officials have repeatedly said they have no intention of freezing enrichment.

Tehran denies allegations that it wants an atomic weapon, insisting that it wants to enrich uranium only to make nuclear fuel.

I would guess that one of the main reasons the US is opening an embassy in Iran is to establish a base for its covert operations. It's always easier to destabilize a country from within than to have to use proxies.

It was the Americans who installed the Shah; it was GHW Bush would ushered in Ayatollah Khomeini; Both Saddam Hussein and bin Laden were CIA operatives. How much of this is all "planned opposition."

The CIA was involved in this from the start. At the very beginning the Mujadeen were comprised of elements from within Afghanistan but it wasn't long before radical "Muslims from other countries were recruited by the CIA and began joining the movement. One of the first of these radicals was the infamous Osama Bin Laden. Eventually some 35,000 radical Muslims from over 43 different countries would be recruited."
