OP, Here is a great maneuver that your daughter should remember if (God forbid!) anything like this should happen again. This one will work even if she is alone and there's no cell phone in the car:

When it's determine that the nut isn't going to drive away, slow down and calmly pull over to the side of the road and make sure the nut parks behind you - This will only work if the pursuing vehicle in in the rear.

Once both cars have come to a complete stop, wait for the loony to get out of his car and then throw your car into reverse and plow the car behind you... I mean smash it like you where in a demolition derby!

The rear car will have extensive radiator damage and will not be able to pursue you for a mile or 2 at most before the engine overheats and seizes up. The faster he goes the faster his car will die... permanently. The impact may also cause his door to jam thereby allowing you more time to get away.

I did this once accidentally and the car was totaled. All I had was a small dent on my rear bumper. The other car looked like an acordening... which is what they are suppose to do when front-ended.

Drive to the police station but don't admit to doing it on purpose - Tell them that in your terrified state you put the car in reverse by accident in an attempt to escape with your life from someone who obviously wanted to kill you.



Self-defense is still legal in Canada... I think.
