Bug out gear prepared and have been stocking up for two years now. If DK is prepping to blow the hatch, I would suggest that you at least take notice and follow the links he gave you.

Many of us here, member and AC alike have recognized a pattern forming that told us something really bad was coming around the corner and posted innumerable threads about it. Those who are new to the forum that posted ridiculous replies ridiculing the posts etc, that's alright, we have all been there.

Older and wiser now and after years in this forum, you get pretty good at sorting out the bull quickly and effectively. Duncan should be able to draw Veterans benefits from this forum. I am not saying you should agree with everything he says, but simply to pay attention to what he says and his reasoning behind it. Whether you agree with him or not, his perspectives may help you to develop your own on a much stronger foundation.

People can say whatever they want about Duncan, their entitled to their opinion, and yes he can really piss you off (I am no exception as when I first came in here, he did tick me off on several occasions), but he makes you think about, analyze and substantiate a situation rather than just running with the first news article you find. Perfect example of how easily moved the sheep are is the Duke LaCrosse case. People were hanging those guys before the trial even started. Many of us are when we come in to this type of forum for the first time and the deprogramming process can be painful


Duncan makes you put together the evidence behind your post to validate your claims and sometimes that really ticks you off because you really want to believe what you are posting. Worst victims are the ac's that are new to the forum. I have been here a long time and when I first started coming I had a couple of sessions with Duncan and he really ticked me off. However, this forum needs people like him and should he challenge you on something you will quickly learn how many holes your argument holds if you are not prepared to back up your claims. However, just because he may not agree with you does not necessarily mean your wrong either. None of us has all the answers, but as a group, the collective knowledge in this forum is a terrific tool if you use it the right way.

If you are new here don't take things too personally, especially if one of the veterans (Trin, SHR, Omega, Traveler, Mr Obvious, Evil Twin etc) in here challenges your way of thinking. It may be the best thing that ever happens to you, even if you do not agree with them...

When I bought this in 1990 I paid 400 an acre. I had it appraised since I went through a nasty divorce about a year ago and it was up, so they say to 1000.00 an acre. I live south of Springfield and West of Branson out in the county. With the Market the way it is I honestly cannot give you a good value. There are alot of forclosures around here now due to the economy and the fact that this is a tourist area.

It is hard to live here, you learn alot but it is well worth it. Chop wood, pray the rain does not make wonderful speed bumps down your driveway, and hope the mail lady makes it at least twice a week. But wouldn't trade it for the world.

Sounds like a fellow country bumpkin to me. I miss it and it was the highest quality of life I ever lived. National forest, horses, cattle, deer, elk, bear, cougar and a huge garden with a well and a river nearby with a great swimming hole. We were self sustaining and if I could do it all over again, I would drop it all right now and go back out there...

Bless your heart, it took me some time too but I'm 51 and stronger and more fit than I could have ever hoped to be living in the city and joining a silly gym. And the wonderful thing about it is you see what you have done, and can say to yourself, "Hey I did that". Of course with God's help because without Him I could never of done what I have done. of course collecting supplies for disaster is a good idea, but i don't see how you can realistically EXPECT huge disaster. not when the powers that be obviously don't want it and when they control everything. were the PTB to want a great calamity to befall us, most of us would be dead or under urban lockdown by now. they don't.

what you will see in the economy over the next two or three years will be the equivilent of a team of bomb squad technicians diffusing an explosive device. there will be moments of pulse pounding suspense, but they will be few and far between. for the most part it will be quite DULL actually, as that is the best and easiest way for the PTB to maintain their control. does a sheep herder toss hand grenades into his herds of valuable sheep?

Prosperity123, you live pretty near my mother-in-law. she's trying to move out here right now (Cali). If TSHTF, we may try and head that way, as it's country and a few acres, big house, etc... not great hunting area, but not bad either. Plus, water is easy to get, we just dig a pond and tada! But, pretty area.

Hey Blackcat66, there's also raising chickens and gardening, canning what you grow, learning to dry goods and store goods over the winter... lots to learn about country life.

I have chickens, turkeys, dehydrator, and can both pressure can and cold can. I have a wood cooking stove and a wood heating stove. I am as prepared as I can be with just one thought process, but any help is greatly appreciated. I have done all this myself but no one person can think of everything

Yes, Geogal. I grew up in a ranch. Cattle and dairy products, mainly and I have the 'feeling' for that, but not the skills, since I was the 'little princess' who just love to take rides on tractors and hay wagons. That's all my 'expertise' about country.

If I could, I would move close to Posterity NOW, and not because of the economy or possible disasters, but because of a huge personal need to get in contact with nature. Something like going back to basics. I don't even know if I am fit for that, but I would love to give it a try.

I do think that the good parts about crisis, is that they may bring people together. That's why I am suggesting to prepare mentally as well as physically for possible rough times and stop thinking that the solitary survivor is the way, because as a matter of fact, that is what it would be tragic.

Dang! You are wwell prep'd... got solar power? You've got water... cold can... that's excellent. You sound more prep'd than me. You've got a good set-up it sounds. Reason I ask about solar is a generator can only last so long and a source of power is really helpful, if for nothing else that just the fridge and freezer. You got a separate freezer? You shouldn't need one if it's only you, but you can almost certainly guess your kids and theirs (if they have kids) will be headed to your place if they can. Got good medical supply and first aid skills? good medical book? Know how to use natural herbs and stuff for medical purpose? The only other thing I can think of is good relations with neighbors for help and assistance.

you prepare for the worst and live and hope for the best. If you've got that covered, then if the absolute best happens, you are gold!

If you have a feel for it, learning it will come easy. I wouldn't be too worried. If you can at all, right now is the BEST time to start looking for land in an area you can afford. I've a few things keeping me set firm in California, not to save my life would I stay, but when nothing wrong is happening only potentially indicated, I'm staying put and enjoying my life as it is. If you have a calling, I'd say do everything in your power to go for it.
