What mentally scarring thing did your mother used to tell you? | |
Cynical Realist Senior Forum Moderator User ID: 513516 United Kingdom 10/03/2008 09:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No mentally scarring in the therapy way, but in the "life's little hurdles" kind of way. Quoting: PoeThis thread is for fun. Looking back on childhood and thinking "holy shit, I would never say that to my kid". Moms have that special way, especially with daughters but sons can chime in as well. So mine is "your butt looks big in that". Throughout highschool, while I was 5'9" and 115 lbs. Apparently, although non-existent, my butt looked big in everything but a potato sack. Just you wait till your Father comes home!!!! eeeek IF YOU HAVE A FEVER DO NOT LOWER IT WITH MEDS.... A FEVER IS AN IMMUNE SYSTEM RESPONSE TO A PATHOGEN (VIRUS, BACTERIA ETC..) IT MEANS YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS WORKING PROPERLY....DONT USE DRUGS TO LOWER YOUR TEMP. |

Smerk User ID: 509406 Australia 10/03/2008 09:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "We're not like them" "We're better than them" "We're different from them" I've grown up looking down my nose at anyone in a lower income bracket, with this "us and them" mentality/class system programmed into me. When I got older I realised that everyone is equal in God's eyes, yet I still subconsciously notice the very distinct difference between the haves and the have nots, the "I'm better than others" mindset, to this day it has been hard to shake this judgemental, pridefull attitude which I was taught to believe as a child. |
Tessa User ID: 383010 United States 10/03/2008 09:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My mother is a very hateful woman. For example, just this week I called to tell her what the dr said about my joints, rheumatoid arthritis. She says, well you can't take something every day guess you'll have to learn to live in pain *rolls eyes* When I was a kid she'd tell me all the time to shut up or she was going to take me to the orphanage and leave me. "Whether this song is about sex, drugs, or Ramen Noodles, it's moving. And you can bet your ass that you can fuck to it." |
