Mine That Bird wins Kentucky Derby | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 670291 United States 05/02/2009 07:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What a great story! Mine that Bird was purchased for only $9500.00. I just watched the race and it was so exciting! The jockey had just won the Kentucky Crown yesterday on a horse that probably would have won today, if it had been entered in the Derby. Good to hear something other than bad news for a change! |

The only gelding in the race. The trainer was 1 for 32 this year. (and an ass on top of it) He drove the horse 21 hours in a van there with a broken leg. Give me a break. The sheep will believe anything. |

Quoting: hardboiledhereticYou know I used to love horseracing. Can't go there anymore. Think Eight Belles. And there were two deaths this year during practice. I sure miss it though. This is the first year I haven't watched The Derby in ages. hbh You missed out. Too bad PETA got to you. |

If I'm reading the chart right, he was dead last 19th after six furlongs and 12th at the mile. That means he passed 11 horses in one furlong to lead at the top of the stretch. Borel yelled "50-1" coming back across the grandstand. |

Naw, I'm not a PETA fan at all, I think they're kinda whacked for many reasons, but yes I'm an animal lover. These thoroughbreds are relative babies. Their bones are not developed enough for the stress that is put on them. I did my homework on the subject and it broke my heart. hbh |

And it was amazing to watch the re-play, and see Mine That Bird come from so far behind and then win by so much. Wow. . . Those tests don't pick up 80% of the stuff their giving horses these days. Testing is a crime in itself. |
