We are Probably past June Solstice
Hi everyone, for some of you who have followed my posts here and on my webiste, you know I watch the sun rise and set when when we don't have clouds. Well, I can't fully watch it set now, all I can do on that is note its final position to me about 10 minutes before set.

I am assuming we have already had solstice. The sun has been moving south of its previous position for ABOUT a week now. I have seen this clearly in the morning and it seems so also in the evening, but for that I can't be very sure, because we have had clouds at set every day. But often there is space to see between them and to my appearance its not moving north anymore from my best vantage point.

Is the sun still setting later in the evening than it did a week ago? If so, then the sun has not reached its zenith yet and the summer solstice has not occured yet.

As best as I can recall, the "June" or "summer" solstice is June 21, or a week away.

So, were not quite there yet.
In ten years we'll look back on this moment, laugh nervously, and quickly change the subject.

Why is the solstice early? Was it on time last year? What are the implications of this?

This is a great link I found where you are able to compare the sunset/sunrise times for every year.

Look at the sunsets on Katcam. They are still going north, just as they should. The archives are there for all to see. The OP is apparently blind.

I have not been able to get anything with set since the 8th, and actually I don't have a clear view of set, so I use the roof tops for estimates about 10 minutes before set and the last time I got because of weather was on June 4th and I noted it had moved north that day.

I have clear view of the rise. However, today, it rose substantially north of where it did yesterday, after moving south most of the time since June 3. I only noted one day where it moved north, and that was June 6. Until this morning it had moved south gradually. Huge change between this morning and yesterday! And I was a tad dizzy.

As to the person posting that it is June 21, it is when the sun begins to move south again. The earth has been erratic for months now, and doesn't follow the rules. Plus our year is off, being a little shorter currently which is one reason our fall and spring seasons are off.

There was a professional astrologer of 41 years that was pretty sure that equinox was in early March. I don't recall the date she suggested. I have recorded MANY changes since March 12, when I began to keep records in rotation and tilt after noticing that sunset was very early one day in early March. The same astonomer had watched the sun stay more or less in the same place in the west for 2 months from early January to early March. She had a personal habit that caused her to notice that, where many would not.

This person actually can measure change by degrees etc, and watched the sun set change about 30 degrees over two days and then settle back again. I recorded a LOT of aberations, by watching shadows etc. I don't watch as much right now, simply because as the sun moved North (which it naturally does after December Soltice) my markers in my house don't work anymore both from the natural movement and the trees leafing out.

Of interest to me, is that normally I always have some sunshine in my south bedroom in the summer months, and close it off for that reason, and there is NO sunshine coming in that window for a few weeks now. And I have LOTS of sunshine through my small north bathroom window, lasting well over an hour after rise. I don't measure anything right now either on solar noon, because my front porch marker no longer works, sun too north and I simply have not created another marker to observe it. But it was consistantly running 6-9 minutes late of what it should be where I live based on the NOAA website.

I was beginning to assume we were at solstice since the sun didn't move north or stay in the same place for several days, in fact moving south. That was why I started the thread. I don't set rise everyday simply because of clouds, but I am lucky more often with rise, than set.

The sun was moving north at a greater rate that it should have when comparing to my computer program. And also by notice of professionals, some of whom posted to the thread I started here in late March, I think it was.

Re: We are Probably past June Solstice
One good way to prove that the solstice is on time is to look at sundials and ancient monoliths that were built to mark it.

I have a sundial in my back yard, 35 plus years old, and it is still accurate.

Two places you can check online are Dzibilchaltun and Xochicalco. Dzibilchaltun is near Merida Yucatan. At the solstice, the sun will appear in the doorway of one of the temples. Lots of tourists, many of them new agers and 2012ers travel there just to witness it every year.

At Xochicalco, there is an amazing phenomenon that I have seen up close probably 7 times. It attracts lots of tourists every year. I think they have stopped letting people into the cavern because morons thought it was a good idea to carve their initials, but I know people that do have access.

At the precise moment of the solstice, an intense thread of light appears in a dark cavern through an irregular hole in the ceiling. It grows until in a flash it fills the whole cavern with intense light. This has happened for many centuries, perhaps more than 2000 years. Believe me. If these phenomenon failed to occur when they are supposed to, the 2012 crowd will be screaming about it all over the internet.

Use it, Candice, and report your results. Forget about your garden-shed-henge... conspirators are moving it around to confuse you.

Oh, and you need to know precisely where geographic North is, and you need something to accurately measure angles and sight the sun. Use something like a theodolite, but project the image through the optics on a card to make your observations. Do NOT look through the eyepiece at the sun!

Re: We are Probably past June Solstice
I will not be downloading and using other methods. I am on dial up and have limited space left on my computer. One day when I am in the mood I will install my larger hardrive. I do have an excellent program on my computer that is assisting to me already. One the sun is well into the sky, shadows cast into the house, which are NILL right now, are my best method. I have NO way to measure where I see the sun, vs where it should be during the day, if I did get such a program as suggested above. I say Nill, because the sun is so far north, plus trees that my previous markers are not useful at the present time, perhaps they will be as it moves back south.

Now, last I reported, I said that after moving south for a few days, the sun moved back north by a goodly deal, Well, the next day it moved south again by about the same amount visually to me. Since somebody here asked for something quanitative, it moved south by a generous 2 diameters of the sun, which appears larger of course on rise. I use building, and trees to gauge the direction. Yesterday it has moved south a tad more, and came up a minute later. I had dark clouds this morning, so have no observation to report.

The point in my observation methods, which I attempted to use in my previous thread on this topic, was to show the average person who to observe for irregularity without any sort of expensive equipment or software and I still keep generous records, except to observe erratic behavior now during the day I would have to go outside to make shadow observations and I have not done that. I could make one indoors right now that might be useful to see if the sun is moving north or south on rise, but since I go outdoors to get the rise time and the buildings on the hill and other markers are adequate for my use I have not taped the wall.

Those of you who try to be shills on this topic, understand MOST people can't use fancy tools for various reasons, and Man has also forgotten his common sense, and can determine things of this nature by very simple means. Enough of the crap, thankyou.

And as to the stonehedge will be pissed comment, I doubt there is ANYBODY sitting there marking all the aberations all day long every day and reporting them. Those of you who love to poo poo common and easy to use observation methods are exactly the ones who do not use them over a long period of time.

Well, you continue to poo poo verifiable evidence that nothing is out of place, like ancient monoliths and sundials. In just a few days the events I mentioned in Dzibilchaltun and Xochicalco will occur. Thousands of new agers and 2012ers will be there. If the phenomenon fails to occur, we will see within hours reports on the internet, using this as proof that the end is near. These are woo woos just like yourself, not science types. Will you believe them when instead of posting chicken little comments like "I spent hundreds of dollars to see the solstice at Xochicalco and nothing happened, the end is near...." they instead post photos and videos of the event on youtube?
