O'Donoghue reports: President Chavez has given his full support to Honduran President, Manuel Zelaya, who is facing fierce opposition and rebellion insisting that the oligarchy in Honduras is attempting to overthrow the new President. He claims there is a coup d'etat in motion. Speaking to the youth section of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), the President says the bourgeoisie and backward elements in the Central American country are attempting to stop a popular consultation set for Sunday over a Constituent Assembly. During the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA) summit in Caracas yesterday, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro initiated a debate on Honduras after it was learned that the military high command chief had refused an order to distribute electoral material causing President Zelaya to dismiss him. President Chavez says Zelaya was correct but a judge ordered the military officers to be reinstated. Zelaya, Chavez contends, has the Attorney General against him, the Congress against him, the Church against him and the bourgeoisie against him ... "it's part of the reality we live in Latin America and the Caribbean." The Honduran President is praised for taking the lead and marching at the head of the people to take the airbase where the electoral material has been stored. Chavez calls on soldiers and members of the Honduran Armed Forces to follow their President and the people. Honduras is a member of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA), thanks to the recent victory of Manuel Zelaya as President. Chavez remarks that in 10 years of government he had never been invited to visit Tegucigalpa. Comparing breaking news broadcasts of Telesur and CNN, Chavez says there is a cultural battle going on with the CNN concentrating on Michael Jackson's death, and Telesur constantly interviewing President Zelaya and following events in the country. In a public statement, governments attending the ALBA summit have expressed firm support for the Honduran President and people. |

This is why Obama did not rebuke Iran at first (until he cracked). It is the same situation here. CIA and Brits are involved but Obama's admin is not.
