The dreaded Ghost Pepper
I saw a grown man cry after eating one of those and they say it is the hottest pepper on the planet

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

The pepper is used as a spice in food or eaten alone. One seed from a Naga Jolokia can produce sustained intense pain sensations in the mouth for up to 30 minutes before subsiding. Extreme care should be taken when ingesting the pepper and its seeds, so as to not get it in the eyes. It is used as a cure for stomach ailments. It is also used as a remedy to summer heat, presumably by inducing perspiration. [9] In northeastern India the peppers are smeared on fences or used in smoke bombs as a safety precaution to keep wild elephants at a distance.[10] [11]

In 2009, Indian defense scientists claimed to have found a new place to use the chiles -- in hand grenades. The scientists aim to use the chiles to control rioters to immobilize people without killing them.[12]

Re: The dreaded Ghost Pepper
I just bought a bottle of a hot sauce called "The Ghost" today, it is nominally 1,000,074 scoville units.

I tried a half-teaspoon full, and I can report that it is really, really hot. Hotter than Dave's Insanity sauce, if you know what that is.

I thought it had a much better flavor (other than hotness) than Dave's, though.

I love hot salsa, too. I can't think of the name of it right now, but there is a salsa made locally where I am that includes peaches and blueberries that is somewhat sweet and only a little spicy. I think a few drops of The Ghost will make it about perfect.

I ate some stuff called 'pure cap' had a skull on the bottle and you had to sign a waiver at a resturant if you ate it.

I didn't wash my hands and went to the bathroom. I spent the next hr. in the shower with cold water aimed down there.

Ghost Pepper has been replaced by the Scorpion Pepper, which was declared a bit hotter, than the Ghost Pepper, recently.
