I am not a Muslim, but it is far better practice than what Westerners are taught to do. Westerners just wipe their asses with paper and leave considerable amounts of SHIT smeared into the crevices of their large asses. If paper doesn't do it for you, there is always those wet-wipes that work really well. Or, you could use a wet washcloth.
Hell, you could even shave the hair from around your bunghole to make the paper more effective.

I would try all of these before I wipe with my bare hand, but hey, thats just me.
