Kirk Hammett is awesome!

Maybe at one time. Got nothing against him as a person but he needs some help with his guitar playing. Much like Lars with his drumming. Practice guys, you're not above it!!

kirk is the best lead guitarist hands down follwed by dimebag darrell. no one after that.

Early Kirk had that mean viking look till he got burned up on stage.

Yeah if I practiced. I play, but not for a living like these guys. I mean when all you have to do is go out and play 20 songs that you've played over and over (some for 30 years), the least you can do is play them how they're supposed to be played. I was a huge Metallica fan. Still am but it is hard when I know what they're capable of, but its like they keep getting worse. Dont anybody give me the "oh cmon, theyre getting older" crap. Look at Judas Priest, hell, look at Mustaine. He's the same age, had surgery on his guitar hand, and is better than he ever has been!

Kirk's playing has gotten so bad he has to use the wah-wah pedal to cover up the fact he cant play. He even uses it on songs there never was one. Good trick. Lots of guitarists use this trick now to cover up there suckiness.

Kirk was good much like Lars back in the day but money has gone to there head!

If Kirk didn't use a whammy bar in most of his solos you'd hear all his mistakes!

They all seem cool except for Lars. James especially. I think in the last few years he's mellowed out. Still a bad ass but nothing like the unapproachable scary dude he used to be in late 80s early 90s. Saw em a few years ago and James was really laid back, no useless cursing like he used to do. Good show, but Kirk and Lars really need help. Wish they'd learn how to practice!

Hetfield - An extremely person song - written exclusively about his childhood - but speaks volumes for all under strict control.
Hammett - Watch him play this song Solo -- It's AMAZING.

Kirk Hammett is my favorite lead guitarist. Metallica was my favorite band but, Megadeth took that spot recently.

I saw them at monsters of rock in 88 and they sucked.I do like some of their stuff but he is not a great guitarist in my book.A great guitarist would be Robin Trower.

No, probably not. They are in a different world now, a different reality.

They were young there - and when Hetfield wrote that song he was still accepting and understanding how his childhood created who he was - he had a lot of built up anger - the band shared in that anger with him.

This is one of the most brutal songs they have ever made. It's basically like hetfield putting his heart on the drums while Lars beats the hell out of it and the pieces are then ripped to shreds by hammett.

They are different people now..they aren't as close to their past as they were - they still have some similar messages in their songs - but the sound will NEVER be the same.
