Anyone know where to buy 1 Gram silver coins or bars?

just buy 90% silver coins... each dime contains roughly 2.25 grams of silver.

This is a good idea too, I'll check around to see if I can get them without being ripped off.

Any suggestions on where to get them that's legit and fair?

Other than jewelry or a curiosity, why would you buy 1 gram of silver?

I'd never pay obscene premiums for a gram round by a no-name minter when 90% stuff is something every sheep semi-knows about. Much better for barter then some privately minted one gram rounds.

I have been using www.apmex.com for several years. They have been very reliable and fair. If you don't want to pay shipping charges you should look for local collectible shops that deal in bullion, just make sure you know the current spot price before buying.

This is a great idea (local) however I live 300 miles from any halfway large city and we have nothing but corn fields, cows, deer, a couple trees and that's about it. :)

at 31 grams per troy ounce, even if you buy 1000 of those one gram bars you are paying over 31 dollars per ounce spot for them.

On the other hand, universally recognizable 90% quarters and dimes sell for about 70 cents above spot on apmex.com, or about 16.50 per ounce.


You save 50% and get a product that everyone recognizes.

This is the direction of my thinking, barter and investment, that kind of thing.

eventually 'junk' silver is going to have more of a premium then the rounds and silver eagles will because they only minted so much of it, and it will never be minted again.


With the surge in silver demand the last few years mostly being supplemented by new minting of rounds, bars, and such from various minters, refiners, and countries around the world, the amount of 'junk' silver to go around is going to become less and less over time relative to the total amount of physical in the system.

Get them for 50 cents above spot while you can, eventually they'll be a couple of bucks above spot like silver eagles are.

I don't have a local anything really, if you've heard of a place called "the middle of nowhere" that's where I'm at.
