There are no "individuals" in nature. There are only species.

You can only exist as an individual in relation to other individuals.

Individuals can only exist in groups.

Most individuals require something like a "society" to survive.

Alone and without the Hive the individual wouldn't even recognize themselves.

The "individual" can only emerge from the "hive-mind"
