Hemp or flax. Restriction of blood to the genitals is a Tantric no-go, so elastic is out.

What kind of magic are you able to call forth?

They run on pure intent. Even in the original language, many mantras don't have a literal or consistent meaning; in fact some object to the sullying of the mantra by trying to bind it thus.

That said, if you have the right mindset and intentions, established mantras just give you a set of acoustic legos that are conducive to the proper mindset.

The usual, subtle kind. I started my Great Work as a Wiccan, unfortunately, but I am also self-trained in the ways of the Golden Dawn, Enochian, and the A,',A,', ; Recently I became an official initiate of Kriya Yog under Yogiraj Satgurunath.

I am able to adjust minor probabilities, like dice rolls and card draws, but never for personal gain. I have a special gift of empathy with all things, including the inorganic and nonliving, that allows me to get a fell of it's viewpoint. I sometimes get visions during meditation, and I Astral Project regularly. Other, less openly speakable things.

The main difference between a regular mage and a chaos magician, other than the minor philosophical squabbles, is that a regular mage HAS to have his ritual tools and HAS to do the ritual the way it was written, by the Great Old Ones many ages ago in the higher Epoch of the Horned Owl. I can do the same thing, just as effectively and improv it with a broken stick, a Bic lighter and my Will.

Mantras do have literal meaning and they do not work on intent only..

where you get this from...certainly not from the the source of the mantras themselves, Vedas, Upanishads, Tantras etc.

I have studied Indian Philosophy, Meditation, as well as various traditions of Sanatan Dharma since I was 16, lived as a yogi from age 19 to 23, been to India twice, I am now 56...

My knowledge is from personal experience. From what I have learned, the majority of the guidelines places around any magical/spiritual act are only very good suggestions. Yes, the mantras have a meaning associated to them, and the meaning is embedded in the mantra such that you can't just chant the same mantra at everything with differing intent and expect results. However it is quite possible to create your own mantra, see servitors, egregores etc.; and because we are quite likely mispronouncing the mantra anyway, what's the difference?

Self-experimentation is the only data I put any weight to.

Oilbow's Sigil: Not enough cowbell. Also, masturbation is not the most effective, or only, way to fire a sigil. On the sirius side, anyone firing sigils needs to always mind the available means of manifestation, as someone once wisely said, a sigil to win the lottery is useless if you don't buy a ticket.

i did a lot of that in my younger years. kaos magick. now i pretty much don't do anything conciously...enough balls are rolling for years now that i don't practice formally.

good fun though...better than the watered down 'the secret' stuff.

sigilization works quite funny sometimes.

Wrong again, there are certain mantras (ritualistic mainly) that need to have absolute correct pronuciation. The Mantras associated with the various Devatas do not have such strict consideration, of course they should be pronounced as best as possible..but the rules are not as strict

Ailurophile- I wouldn't know, I've never practiced a Dark Art. Since the beginning, I've had a rather Taoist view of the balance of the universe. I could comfortably say that there is no such thing as "good" or "evil", but there is certainly a balance between negativity and positivity that must be maintained for reality to operate. This balance has been swayed toward negitivity for far too long, and thus I only trade in positivity these days. As for what I DO do, the only repercussions have been growth, love and harmony.

Atom Jaay- I only recently decided to experiment in the spiritual and holistic effects of hallucinogens, after being convinced for years that they would slow or derail my growth. I have not yet had a chance to ingest any hallucinogenic tryptamine alkaloids, although I plan to commune with the mushroom goddess soon. I do have a very good relationship with salvia divinitorium and hashish.
