Quoting: guy369You control your addictions! You control it all!!! This is true in most cases, but nicotine builds physically dependancy in addition to mental addictions. This make its even more difficult to stop. |
Copernica User ID: 988128 United States 07/29/2010 05:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is the habit of the act of smoking, the lighing up, the tapping ashes, reaching for the cig/lighter. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1052034Then there is a physial addiction to nicotine. The only real way to know if you have a habit/addiction is to stop and then assess you reactions. Nicotine withdrawal may cause headaches, loss of concentration and changes in appetite/digestion. Here's a quiz to help you assess your situation, not endorsing it, just something I found [link to www.addicted.com] Personally, I doubt you are addicted after such a short time I'm addicted the act - and I think it's harder to kick than nicotine. I can be completely fine and not even thinking about a cigarette - and then I get on the computer and have to have one. Same for driving in my car. Those are my trigger places. I tried using lollipops - but that seemed to make me want to smoke even more. Anyone have suggestions - besides willpower? Seriously, 1/2 the time I don't even realize that I've lit a cigarette until I'm putting it out. So willpower isn't the issue - except when I'm buying a new carton. Once I can find a good substitute to the act of having a cigarette - then I shouldn't have a problem at all. God Bless President TRUMP! GOD BLESS AMERICA!! |

I smoked ~5 packs of cigarettes in 2 weeks , and i want to know how many i must smoke to have problems with quit. Quoting: CryeI want to stop that shit but im a bit afraid. It is possible to be addicted after that 100 cigarettes? 1 cigarette puts nicotine in your brain and it never leaves it is designed to cross the blood barrier meaning it becomes a physical compound in your brain forever. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1087221 United States 04/17/2012 04:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | it seems like most people have a run in with tobacco at some point of their lives. Some people just don't give a rat's ass about the well being of their lungs and blood when they're 70 years old. Some people have that thought "fyck it, im gonna die anyways". Thats a piss poor statement shrouded in ignorance. The truth is that the nonsmoker is more than likely going to have energy and healthy blood at age 55 meanwhile you are struggling to even find a second of well being. What with having such damaged blood supply and chared lungs, the "im gonna die some day" attitude is true...You are gonna die and it'll be 30 years early and it'll be a horrible dieing process with an inability to breathe and extremely poor blood circulation. The truth is that showing a handsome tall strong man smoking is only one side of the image of a smoker. The other side is a dieing man who is regretting all the decades of saying "fyck it we all gotta die someday". Looking up from their death bed to see their brothers and sisters look vibrant and strong because they avoided living their entire life as smokers. To see these healthy people from your generation while you're struggling to breathe and to think that you had full control over what you put in your body. You chose this brutal ending. Wheezing small particles of oxygen into your lungs that fail more by the hour. Finally you're put on oxygen and your loved ones cry as they watch you struggle to take your last breath.....at the age of 63....Meanwhile the rest of their friends all are enjoying life knowing fully well that this is the reward for avoiding stupid activities such as smoking their entire life. People have to come to terms with the fact that they will be old one day. That old person is going to be....YOU....That old person is counting on YOU to deliver a smooth transition into the elderly ages. Don't sacrifice your final decades of life because you were too stupid in your 20's and slipped into a radioactive addiction. There are drugs that are addicting and then theres cigarettes. Today's cigarette has centuries of addictive creation behind them. Manufacturers hiring scientists to make their particular cigarette more addicting than the other companies cigarette. The end product is an entire tobacco industry full of cigarettes with more addictive chemicals than natural tobacco has. Dont be a tool, a pawn for the tobacco industry game. I smoked for 5 years. 75% of those 5 years were days that I envisioned quitting and how great it would feel. You have to quit. Cigarettes are more addictive than anything man has discovered. The addiction grows and grows from 5 packs every 2 weeks to 3 packs a day. Noone can smoke for 30 years and continaully smoke 5 packs every 2 weeks. When I started smoking I would smoke 2 cigs before a workout. I told my peers that it helped me get ready to workout. They looked at me like I was retarded. Giving smoking any kind of rationalization for why im using it. Then I moved to 5 a day. 10 a day. 15 a day. 20 a day. Every smoker will one day go over a pack a day. It doesnt stop at one. You will either die or smoke 40 packs a day. Death usually comes quickly when people make it to 4 packs a day. |

Try smoking organic tobacco through a decent pipe, now that's where it's at. Also looks way cooler, unless you're too young to be smoking anyway. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2917913 dont take advice from anybody who does shit because they think it looks cool...just sayin' OK, but the real danger from tobacco is in the way it is grown and processed commercially. Real organic tobacco is far healthier and far less addictive. I've grown my own tobacco for a few years and never had any withdrawal effects like when I used to smoke commercial cigs. |

Sorry. But if you don't like them and don't want to smoke then stop now and don't say to yourself I'm just going to smoke a few or whatever, over a few weeks. |

There is not a human experience, besides the actual act of filling the nicotine withdraw, that smoking doesnt take away from. everything is less from a smokers point of view, and you will not realize that, unfortunately, until you quit. fact |
