our house was broken into this morning
My laptop is gone, and my daughter's too

:(

A gang of kids, but we saw the older guy that drives them, he had a flash red sedan, fucking shit-heads!

The whole area was targetted, they got in through a window, a small gap only, but they are very small, 'foetal alcohol syndrome' the cop said.

:(

They can't even be charged because they're too young,
and PC is hampering the cops in being able to do anything to combat the growing problem in this town.

Too bad you don't live in some extremely Rural area, or in the USA. You could have just shot them, or had the cops actually do their jobs.

Atleast you weren't harmed, this time.

In the US if you were to shoot a small child who climbed through your window, you'd be facing life in prison at best, if the citizens didn't kill you first.

Not in my area, not 4 months ago a man fired on 4 teenage jackasses breaking into his house.
Killed 2, and the others got away (caught later).

He wasn't in trouble until the captured teens told the cops that they were breaking into the home for the drug stash (which was found, causing the said man to be arrested for drug possetion).

So yeah, I would put 2 into the "child's" chest, and one in his or her head. Then have the cops do their job and clean up the body. (Okay, CSI, but you get the picture)

No prison time where I live, not even jail time. (Plus, the laws allow me to protect myself in my own home, regardless of the person's race or age)

EDIT: Spelling error.

Not likely to get them back, most of my daughter's travelling pics weren't on a disc..
ouch

I'm on my other daughter's laptop, her house does have a dog, but we only have a lease until March, so getting a dog isn't an option, it's so much harder to rent with a dog.

Even if I'd had a gun, two lappies are NOT worth a life,
just to satisfy some revenge (over-emotional) reaction.

But self defense is a good reason to buy a gun and keep it on hand.

Just remember, even if you aren't willing to take a life, a well placed round will scare off most people (violent included).

And if your aim is good, you can put that round into their arm, bleeds good and is usually not a kill shot.

Different Country, Different Laws.

I doubt they can carry a handgun, let alone fire it at all (much less in their own homes).

Gun control. The only flaw is the law.

I live in Broome.

In this case, we were asleep, and they were gone before my daughter's b/f got up at 5am to go to work.
Any other morning, and I would have been up already, on my way to work.

The older guy drove and walked past as were looking at the damage, but we only realized later that he was likely to be connected, we were a little shocked and still waking up.

Another guy up the road came over when he saw the police car, he'd busted them breaking in to his car, they were carrying a crow-bar.

They even stole half a bag of lollies.

That makes little sense, and has little or nothing to do with the topic at hand.

And in any case, why would the Pope, of all people, ask Bankers to work in China? Last time I checked, there wasn't a lot of Christians living in China, and they didn't enjoy a lot of rights, either.
