fish kill up part of the East Coast that began near Mississippi up to Delaware, NJ, and Massachusetts this past summer.

methane that was let out in huge quantities from the blow out has now somehow pushed us to a climate change tipping point? Fish dying of hypoxia from "extreme heat" this past summer, and now fish dying due to "excessive cold". Or, fish dying from that plus a combination of the toxic soup the Gulf has now been made into with Corexit and geoengineering bacteria...and of course, the evaporation taking place that is coming back down on crops, people, and birds. I don't know about you, but I think for anyone to suggest that the
catastrophe that took place there not even a year ago that we are just supposed to get amnesia about could have absolutely no effect on any ecosystem in the longterm is being blatanly obtuse. There is so much we are not being told.

Growing Hypoxic Zones Reduce Habitat for Billfish and Tuna

ScienceDaily (Dec. 23, 2010) — Billfish and tuna, important commercial and recreational fish species, may be more vulnerable to fishing pressure because of shrinking habitat, according to a new study published by scientists from NOAA, The Billfish Foundation, and University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.

An expanding zone of low oxygen, known as a hypoxic zone, in the Atlantic Ocean is encroaching upon these species' preferred oxygen-abundant habitat, forcing them into shallower waters where they are more likely to be caught.


The hypoxic zone off West Africa, which covers virtually all the equatorial waters in the Atlantic Ocean, is roughly the size of the continental United States, and it's growing," said Dr. Eric D. Prince, NOAA's Fisheries Service research fishery biologist. "With the current cycle of climate change and accelerated global warming, we expect the size of this zone to increase, further reducing the available habitat for these fish."

These Fish are loosing living territory VS other invasive species like JELLYFISH and other more addaptative.

Add that U.S. bumble bees have declined 96 percent in recent decades.

Dead zones are areas of the ocean which are too low in oxygen to support many marine species. There are about 400 of these "hypoxic" regions throughout the world, many caused by human activities. Perhaps the most notorious, the New Jersey-size dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico is caused by fertilizer runoff released by the Mississippi which encourages oxygen-depleting algae to proliferate out of control. Another dead zone was discovered in 2007. It occurs off the coast of Texas, where the Brazos river empties into the Gulf.

Dead zones can also be caused by climate change. Increases in ocean temperature can change the course of currents, isolating certain areas from influxes of deeper, colder water. As the water in the area sits, it warms and releases its oxygen, making it inhospitable to many aquatic species. Three major dead zones are known to have been caused by climate change: one off the coast of Chile and Peru, one off the east coast of Africa, and another off of Africa's west coast. A new dead zone was reported off the US west coast in 2002. It occurs seasonally and is believed to be part of a continuum of South America's dead zone.

Air is a mixture of 21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen, and approximately 1% other trace gases. mess up with that by adding 5% of methane and -5% of oxygen and we are dying in lest then 5min.

this is right qhat happen right now, the mass wildlife dying is a precurssor.

Last year, I went over the mountains in the hot summer heat , about 1,000 feet up , hypoxia symptoms, used my mom's oxygen tank ; I had in the car for a about 10 minutes; this got me worried about decreased oxygen levels at higher elevations. Increased hypoxic areas in the oceans can decrease the amount of oxygen produced. Now, the question is ;can storm fronts very the amount of oxygen?

not all earth at same time. this much more about the oxygen displacement by wind+storm front. so specific area could be victim of something like a sudden 'vaccum' of the oxygen by huge amount of other gaz. just like what happen with the bird on 1 miles square.

You could be ionto something here, there may be an element of truth here, however, the oxygen poor areas will have to contain another type of gas, possibly methane but I would imaging the gas would be something more diluted with nitrogen.
