Come on you doom monkeys, I present you irrefutable mathematical proof of doom. And instead you prattle on about Nibiru, Illuminati, bigfoot!

Why don't we take these statistics and go back in time during the agricultural revolution, and say how all humans are going to die, since the curve looks just as explonential then with a pupulation explosion is a fed hundred years all along the Nile and Fertile cresecent.

Surely humans are not smart enough to invent new methods of irrigation which could assure there is enough grain for a ever increasing population!

I never argued that the population will continue to grow exponentially, for the very fact you provided (unless we colonize space soon).

If it did continue to grow exponentially, it would further show that Scenario A is most likely.

Furthermore, we do not exist during the agricultural revolution, we exist now.

My point is that if we existed during the agricultural revolution you would be making the same argument.

The agricultural revolution certainly took thousands of years, over many different civilizations, it certainly did not occur in less than 100 years. I would assume overall world population grew steadily over thousands of years, and not exponentially.

HELLO I am OP from the year 2111 an I traveled back in to tell you that you were wrong about the population of the earth collapsing. Due to the advent of nano-biology we are now able to feed house and extend the lives of tens of billions of people on earth, in fact this new technology has increased life expectancy to 200 years. Only within the last 100 years has the population exploded at an exponential rate, fast approaching 100 billion.

Scenario A (Doom) - The population of the world will catastrophically collapse

Scenario B - The population of the world will stabilize and remain steady for an extended period of time

Scenario B is the less likely scenario. Lets say the human population stabilizes around 100 billion, and civilization continues on for thousands and thousands of years.

Assume all 100 billion of us are placed randomly in this timeline, it is just as likely we will exist in the year 2211, 2311, 3011, 40011, 500011, etc. etc. In fact, assuming this scenario, it would be a bizarre coincidence that we exist right at the population boom.

Now consider scenario A, where the population collapses. Assume we are placed randomly on the timeline. Then it is not surprising at all that we exist during the time when the population is at it highest, in fact we would expect that.


Thus, the population of the world will collapse around 2112.

This is a more straightforward presentation of the future Doomsday Argument.

Hey Im OP from the year 1918 I have somhow stepped into a time anomaly that has teleported me to the yeard 1918 where i have assumed the memories of another person and forgotten everything about the future, though i am somehow still telepathically connected with this thread and can communicate my thoughts.

ANYWAY.... I want to say that everyone on this thread that claims the population collapse is gona happen in 2000 and beyond is a shill, because it is in fact happening NOW in the year 1918. We have reached 1 billion people and now the GREAT WAR has killed millions of young men and not only that but this new plague called the SPANISH flu which is decimating the healthy!

Very soon there will not be enough viable young men to run the agriculture which will lead to starvation and complete population collapse! ALso all those people that talk about Antibiotics and Mechanized Agriculture are just bullshit shills triyng to make the sheeple feel safe.
