Ask the average man or woman on the street what's happening to precious metals, and they'll give you a blank stare and maybe a "Duh
With gold and silver on the move, the Godfather of newsletter writers Richard Russell had this to say in his latest commentary, “There is only one certainty regarding paper money -- the longer you hold it, the less it will buy in terms of real goods or real money -- gold. But there's a big difference between the current precious metals bull market and the bull market of the 1970s. The 1970 bull market drew tremendous interest (I was there). Everybody I knew (even the gold haters) were watching that bull market with keen interest, particularly during the wild "blow off" days of the late 1970s, when silver was rocketing higher -- rising every day by limit up.”
March 25, 2011

Richard Russell continues:

“In comparison, today's huge precious metal bull market is greeted with yawns, that is, if it is greeted at all. I've been calling the current gold/silver market the "great stealth bull market." Ask the average man or woman on the street what's happening to precious metals, and they'll give you a blank stare and maybe a "Duh." Ask them if they own any gold or silver, and they'll give you a sheepish "Nah."

Once the mainline yuppies figure it out they will drive the prices out of sight, & you will not be able to afford it either, so........let's hope the sheeple slumber a bit longer.

I don’t think the “sheeple would be able to afford it anyway.

$2400 for an ounce of gold is $2400 people will typically spend on things like, rent, food, child care.

You know “sheeple” stuff.

Hell $2400 is 2 months pay for me.

Sorry were all such degenerates for being working class OP.

True, therefor consider Silver & FRACTIONAL Gold coins like 1/2, 1/4 1/10 or 1/20 oz coins which you may still be able to afford, and will be more "movable" in trade IF you ever actually use G&S as money if TSHTF or economy collapses.

Personsally 1/20 coins carry WAY too much premium for me to justify, but some 1/10 aren't AS bad value wise.

If TSHTF I’m not going to be to concerned with monetary wealth.

And I kinda doubt anyone else will either.

Who gives a shit what precious metals are doing. If the shit hits the fan, whats gonna be worth more....

a lump of silver or a chicken

a block of gold or a goat

get my point.... you cant eat your silver and gold, and neither can anyone else

that shit is ONLY valuable, as long as it has REAL and PRACTICAL value...

good luck with your purchase

Gold and Silver has been wealth for 6000 years and the SHTF many times in those years.

only because we were able to recover, and recover with the same set of standards LATER

an object ONLY has value as long as someone ACCEPTS that premise

don't try to buy anything from me with that shit

I will trade you for food, for ammo, for water.... but I doubt I will ever want your shiny baubles if the TSHTF

I still say you would be better off buying bushels of wheat and bean... but whatever

as I said, good luck with your purchase

Some of my friends still think I wasted my money. Even while we've increased our wealth by leaps and bounds. Our income is up 10 fold in just over decade and I am still a nutter to some of them. I dont buy shit so they probably dont know it. But they also dont recognize how much gold and silver have appreciated which is telling of many of their situations.

Many just keep pumping money into their 401-Ks.

They would have been better off with etrade accounts, some research and using stops to prevent excessive losses.

Or better yet, just put the money in a bank account. At least you have it.

Whatever...

What if I have the food and I want gold and silver for payment? Ever think of that? To think everyone will be poor is just short sightedness. I used to love to hunt and fish and being a country boy I'll promise you I'll have the freshest meat and fish available. I have deer in my backyard. Its nothing here to come around a corner and see hundreds of deer in one field.

Not just that, I know dozens of large farmers of which I am friends with. We didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

I think most posters on here have some romantic view of t a post apocolyptic world.. Yes there may be some 'road warrior heros'

but most will be hungry, homeless, and destitute. those people arent going to give a shit about gold

anyone of them would probably try to take your food, might even try to kill you for it

the idea of 'monetary wealth' when there is no society to manufacture or transit goods is ridiculous...
