Study history. Seriously. Gold and silver are valued as currencies in exchange for goods all over the world, going back thousands and thousands of years.

Most of the people you're "laughing" at are 10 years ahead of you. You should have been on the ball years ago when everything you mention was half(or more) the price it is today. Try to keep up now.

The economic system we have is weak and venerable. It will collapse, but an economy will re-develop. Putting all your money into guns and ammo isn't a good choice, unless your just dirt poor. I am by no means rich, but if I put all my assets into guns and ammo, my house would be full and I would literally live in a powder keg. I've got guns and lots of ammo, and OP is right in that I bought it first, but gold and silver will serve a purpose in rebuilding an economy. People won't want fiat for a while.

Jewelry was not created to be "pretty", but to show to others your wealth and to use it in exchange for goods. It was quite common hundreds and thousands of years ago to give someone a ring or necklace for goods or services rendered.

And as for thinking growing food is the path to wealth, historically farmers have been the poorest people in the world. Short term after the SHTF food and water will be king, but those that will be well off years down the road will be those with silver and gold.
