When Mt. Garabaldi erupts, not long after, a large part of the west coast will slide into the pacific.

That's a new one on me.
I shall have to investigate.

And here's a little more in the line of fun facts to consider in the region. Having lived in Port Townsend, a reasonably close neighbor, I remember most of the brick structures having been built in a slipshod boom economy period near the turn of the century were mortared with what appears to be sea sand as opposed to quarry sand. Sea sand is ground up calcium (read crushed sea shells) and very fragile over time. Run your fingers or a sharp (not necessarily high Mose value object in the mortar joints) and see the grout flow from the wound. Port Townsend (and many other brick and mortar infrastructures of similar engineering and age are going to explode when the day that 7. or more subduction rattler comes. Likely also the twisting and buckling of said structures are not only going to fill the streets with brick shards but broken glass several feet thick. The rest of the detritus will burn because emergency vehicles will be useless in the mess and water lines and gas lines will be sheered throughout the region. Game over or game on. Think about it.

U.S. Fears Mega Thrust Earthquake Tsunami Will Wipe Out North West

The Pacific Northwest coast is overdue for a 'mega thrust' earthquake on the Cascadia fault line scientists are warning. When it happens they say it could also trigger a tsunami, Oregon, Seattle and Vancouver (get ready for the big one) coastal areas would be inundated within 15-30 minutes.

You are correct to be concerned. Also realize that the New Madrid fault will probably slip about the same time so people will have much to deal with in that part of the country.

Just set aside food water and strap down anything that might fall and hurt someone. Wouldn't it be ironic to be totally prepared for disaster and have your bookshelf tip over and squash you when the EQ hits?

i agree with whomever suggested we bundle up these GLP babies in sound proof bubble wrap.

If it make you rest easier, Seattle is surrounded by active volcanoes that would likely be set off too.

At least Seattle is pretty hilly.

The history did an segment on this area. they claim to evidence that this area is the site of the biggest EQ in the history of the planet some millions of years ago. They also said the Tsunami could be 250 feet high, with the warning time 15 minutes.

I have thought for years that either this area, or Long Valley (in my backyard), will be the next to go in the USA.

The last known great earthquake in the northwest was in January, 1700, just over 300 years ago. Geological evidence indicates that great earthquakes may have occurred at least seven times in the last 3,500 years, suggesting a return time of 400 to 600 years.

Are Volcano's In The U.S. Waking Up?

The recent swarm of earthquakes causing concern near Hawthorne, Nevada has some people talking about the Long Valley Caldera in California. The Long Valley Caldera (Volcano) is a 15- by 30-km oval-shaped depression located 20 km south of Mono Lake along the east side of the Sierra Nevada in east-central California. A look at the earthquake map gives you an idea of the area.

The USGS says "As long as increased volcanic unrest (including earthquake swarms, ground deformation, and CO2 gas emissions) continues in the Long Valley area, the chances of an eruption occurring in the near future will remain somewhat increased. A small body of magma (molten rock) was discovered rising through a fissure beneath the mountain but the area is currently listed as normal.

Scientists want to begin monitoring a Volcano in Oregon as soon as possible. The Newberry Volcano is a potentially active volcano that last erupted 1,300 years ago. John Ewert of the Cascades Volcano Observatory in Spokane, WA said as far as Volcano's go if it were to reactivate there would be substantial numbers of people/infrastucture involved.
"It's just a big honking volcano," Cynthia Gardner with the Cascades observatory said, "and it deserves more than we have on it right now."

Everything is connected.

The earthquakes in/near Japan are on the western pacific plate. That whole region is now trembling. As a result of its shifting, pressure changes on the west coast of the US. Likewise, there are pressure changes throughout the ring of fire.

Everything will adjust/change.

Watch Mt. Garabaldi. Leave before it starts to speak. It is the anchor point, the linchpin, or whatever word that you want to use that is currently holding the plates in place.

The BP GOM fiasco drilled into an asphalt volcano. In fact, there are many such breeches. These are connected to huge methane chambers that connect all the way north to the great lakes, northeast to the carolinas, and northwest to the rockies. The gulf water goes in, the methane and other gases come out. This causes the methane chambers to evacuate, and eventually will cause the land above to slump. This will also be the immediate cause, along with the change in plate pressure for the New Madrid fault to become more active. When the land slumps, the great lakes will meet the gulf as Cayce predicted.

This change in plate pressure, as well as the slumping, affects the great magma chambers under/between the Long Valley caldera and Yellowstone caldera. It is quite possible that one or both of these may erupt, especially if Mt. Garabaldi does.

The eruption of Mt. Garabaldi frees the entire ring of fire to move. Parkfield is the hammer that causes the coast to slide.

Do not believe what I say, but investigate it. Time is short.

Activity Update: All volcanoes in the Cascade Range are at normal levels of background seismicity. These include Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams in Washington State; Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry Volcano, and Crater Lake, in Oregon; and Medicine Lake volcano, Mount Shasta, and Lassen Peak in northern California.

That means Seattle’s buildings, for example, are designed for roughly half of the earthquake loads of buildings in San Francisco or Los Angeles, because earthquakes occur roughly half as often in Seattle as in California’s cities. But the result is that Pacific Northwest cities are full of buildings with slender structural frames and fewer and smaller shear walls. In a mega-quake, many of the region’s iconic tall buildings would probably collapse. The loss of life and property from such a disaster would be far worse than the damage and death suffered in Chile.
