Quoting: Anonymous Coward 744402[link to www.wlsam.com] Suit: Woman attacked by police after toddler dials 911 Posted 5/19/11 11:33 p.m. A woman claims she was attacked by Riverdale police officers after her three-year-old granddaughter accidentally dialed 911 on her cell phone and hung up, a federal lawsuit filed Thursday claims. SNIP Jefferson then received a call from the 911 dispatch operator who called to see if there was an emergency, the suit said. Jefferson apologized and explained her granddaughter’s actions. Soon after, two Riverdale police officers arrived at Jefferson’s home and began yelling at her to step outside, according to the suit. Jefferson went outside and again explained to the officers that the call was an accident. The officers demanded to be let into her house and followed Jefferson into the home and began asking questions, the suit said. A female officer then grabbed Jefferson by the neck, pushed her outside the home, dragged her to the squad car and arrested Jefferson. The officer then slammed the car door on Jefferson’s ankle twice before she could get both of her legs in the squad car, the suit said. The suit claims that Jefferson was taken to the police station and was falsely charged with assault. Jefferson was found not guilty of assault during her trial in December 2010, according to the suit. SNIP this country is f'ed up beyond belief |

(parenting) I explained to the answering officer on the phone, that I had meant to dial 411(information) dialing 911 instead. A few minutes later an officer showed up , insisted entery to varify nothing was wrong. It took me and my boy at least ten minutes to persuade the officer it was an honest "brain fart". Before he left he went through a questionare with me. One of the questions was if I had any firearms in the house. So now I am on some list as armed. Some chit huh? Quoting: NervousNJerkyI called 9-11 by mistake. We had a blackout and the phone wouldn't even work, so we wanted to check if 911 still worked and there was an answer so we foolishly hung up instead of saying, sorry misdialed (which is all you have to do). They came and were all crouched by the door with guns drawn, and we thought it was some friends joking with us. They were pretty pissed off, but no thuggery. Of course this was in the real America in 1994. |

Then the kidnapper who owns the place comes to the doors and says.. "oh, it was just an accident. sorry guys..." Some people need to be hit with the clue-stick. |

Quoting: NervousNJerkyThe questionnaire is disturbing! But keep in mind the agenda. It is not "To Help Us." I called 911 once on purpose, and made sure I said "Stop trying to take the phone away from me." to my assailant within their hearing. When I called back they said they thought it was a domestic dispute and did not respond, bla bla. The guy was a Tai Chi expert and said he could kill all of us if he wanted. Thank God I talked him out of my house. You just never know, be prepared, and if you need help call yourself, friends, and neighbors first. |

I get so annoyed when the 911 operator says, stay on the line, tell me what's happening.' I think you get faster service if you dial, ask for help, and then let the phone drop instead of continuing to answer the operator's questions. |
