People have always claimed the "end of the world" is near, yet nothing has really ever happened on an end of the world scale. So, are we just more people in a long history of Doom predictors while the world blindly carries on its business, or is there a real Doom coming this time?

The more I look and research the more it becomes apparent that there are alot of people capatilizing on the collective fear of humnaity. I do sense an increased frenzy about and sometimes several doom scenarious seem to 'ramp' up, only to deflate before the level of expected doom manifests. Odd I think. Could just be me.
