Didn't occur to you that the Swiss would put one of the countrymen on the note? Euler was Swiss.

The comet could be an number of comets, like Halley, but probably it is 63P/Wild, a short-period comet discovered by the Swiss astronomer Paul Wild in 1960. Wild's aphelion distance is near Saturn. By the way, the banknote series was released in May of 1979, long before Elenin or Hale-Bopp were discovered.
