The author's premise is that since the variables are correlated, then a causal relationship exists. I see no mention of possible confounding variables or even an attempt to prove causation.

elenin did lost much of its momentum even before it entered mercury's orbit. Massive lost of momentum = desintegration, with sun mercury and venus pulling from one side making it hard for elenin to get out from sun's grasp, if you get lost of momentum to it, it was just a matter of time before comet just quietly disintegrate into fewer pieces

The dust cloud that is left is continuing on the orbit of Elenin, and is not entering Earth's orbit, in fact Elenin is roughly as far from us as Venus's orbit.

The location of Elenin and YU55 on October 23 was NOT an an alignment, by any stretch of the imagination.

Elenin is not associated with earthquakes, the table notably lease out the Sun-Elenin-Earth Alignment of September 26, which doomsayers were worried about, but where nothing happened, and the closest approach of Elenin to Earth, where nothing happened.
