I really have no problem with this in principal, but only if it applies to unions as well. The maximum donation that an individual person can make to an individual candidate is $2,500. There are additional monies that can be given to parties but it is far less than what either corporations or unions donate. here is a chart of the allowed donations: [ link to www.fec.gov] If you take away only the corporate donations then the unions will be able to buy every election. That is what is really at stake here. Do we keep the level playing field we have now with everybody spending ridiculous money, make it unbalanced be keeping corporations out of the political arena, or keep a level playing field at a lower price point by taking out both corporations and unions. In case you wonder how elections would go if we get were to remove only corporate donations, scan this list to see how many donations would be made by republican leaning groups if unions still donate after removing corporations. [ link to www.opensecrets.org] Quoting: your mom 6869049 Part of the amendment in section 4 shows that Congress will be able to regulate the campaign finance laws. That means Unions will not be able to buy up elections because it will be regulated if this is amended. also I believe Unions would fall under private entities to promote business interest. I could be wrong, but if not...it will still be regulated.
