also feel all living things to be sacred but the role of whale and dolphin cannot be given justice with words. it is so big as far as celestial energy balancing goes. others too but these 2 really do the most

personally i think it's ok to eat meat, fish etc. as long as they animals are treated humanely/well looked after

the dream is definitely worth keeping alive, that would be amazing to see. i would become vegetarian for that :)

Im not a vegetarian either, I like my meat too much hehe, but I respect those that are.
As you said, above all we must learn to treat the animals with the respect they deserve instead of seeing them as some sort of product/property.

I was just reading the above, and it struck me that the only two "toys" I kept of my son's were his two bathtub toys: a dolphin and whale. I keep them in my bedroom on a small shelf by a bird's feather.......... I remember now, that I was never able to lose these toys, especially the dolphin... It kept turning up move after move and I finally claimed them for my own.

I pretty much stopped eating meat.....although I have a little chicken soup in the fridge, but the chicken was from a good farmer (at least the store said they were).

It's all about how we live, not how we die, so that's a good rule when consuming an animal... Did they have a good life?

Cat-sized horses roamed prehistoric forests

More than 50 million years ago, the Earth was a hotter place than it is today and horses the size of pet cats roamed the forests of North America, United States scientists say.

Researchers made the discovery after analysing horse tooth fossils uncovered in the western US state of Wyoming that showed the older ones were larger, and that the species had shrunk over time.

The research showed that Sifrhippus shrank by almost one third, reaching the size of a small house cat (about four kilograms) in the first 130,000 years of the period.

Then, the horses grew larger again, to about seven kilograms in the final 45,000 years of the period.

About a third of known mammals also minimised themselves during this time, some by as much as one half.

Amnesty says pull your centres in, Australia


AMNESTY International says Australia must scrap remote immigration detention centres and take other measures, in order to meet human rights standards.

In a highly-critical report following an 11-day tour of some of Australia's detention facilities this month, Amnesty said it was undeniable that human rights violations were occurring.

"Amnesty International remains appalled that this policy has continued for so long," the human rights group said.

"In the past 16 months we have moved more than 3600 children, families and vulnerable people into community arrangements, either into community detention or on bridging visas with work rights," he said.

NASA telescope detects massive cloud of 'buckyballs' hurtling through space

For the first time, astronomers have discovered the solid form of tiny carbon spheres in deep space inside a vast cloud of particles locked in orbit around two distant stars.

The carbon spheres, known as buckyballs, are formed from 60 carbon atoms linked together to form a hollow sphere, "like a soccer ball," NASA announced in a statement today (Feb. 22). Astronomers spotted vast quantities of the tiny space balls, enough to create 10,000 Mount Everests, circling a pair of stars 6,500 light-years from Earth.

NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, a space-based infrared observatory, spotted the buckyballs around the double-star system XX Ophiuchi. The light emitted by the carbon spheres is different than that seen in the gaseous form of buckyballs previously seen in space, allowing scientists to conclude that Spitzer had detected the material in its solid form, researchers said.

Leadership changes at NASA

Associate Administrator Chris Scolese will become the director of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., and Robert Lightfoot, currently the director of the Marshall Space Flight Center, in Huntsville, Ala., will become the agency's associate administrator.

"Both Chris and Robert are dedicated public servants who have a passion for NASA and exploration," Bolden said in a statement. "We are fortunate to have such talented and experienced leaders who are capable of assuming these critical responsibilities during this important time."
