I believe the meaning of "dra" has been lost. How many sides does a "dra" refer to. Perhaps it means a shape with very large number of side - so it appears round, e.g. circular like a UFO or cylindrical like a missile.

If you were from a time where there were no mechnical items, you would describe things in terms of reference to things you know, e,g, animals. Hence flames would be "fire breathing" followed by a basic description of it's shape.e.g. The word dragon refers to the objects basic shape.
