Has Simon Cowell Ruined The Worlds Music Scene?

Those shows and their producers are cornering the market. What people don't realize is that the talent is being used and abused by these bloodsuckers.

First of all, they are mostly neophytes and naive. They jump at any opportunity to become famous and will sign anything put in front of them. Granted, the face recognition from TV exposure ensures they will have a career but by the same token, they are under contract to those producers for any proceeds.

I'd be willing to bet that Kelly Clarkson is still obliged to pay those people. Unless she was able to renegotiate and had the good sense to retain a music lawyer. Same for the rest.

I don't think so, it was ruined long before the prevalence of these shows.... The record companies ruined the music scene... They sunk all their resources into pop acts that could be sold to the ignorant masses.... Who needs talent these days when your record company can supply you with pre-written songs and a band you've never met before????

Only if you look to the main stream to furnish you music. Otherwise, good music is alive and thriving in the age of P2P.

I do want to add that there is a thriving music scene if you are willing to look at alternative underground music by unknown artists, the record companies are working on destroying that now as we speak..

the type of music that show promotes has never been 'cutting edge'...its made generic and easy for the masses, simple lirics(yeah i know its spelled incorrectly, it wont let me post otherwise???), simple melodies

It makes you wonder where the next Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin is coming from. A different scene altogether right now. Bands really struggle to get past the first album nowadays.

Yes I think his shows are rubbish. Some singers who go on these shows and do not win are seem forever in the publics eyes as losers even though they are good singers. My daughter is a singer songwriter and even though people have said to her to go on idol and x factor she has always refused, because it can be a death knell for singers. You can get abused by the judges who cant sing for shit at all. Some really good singers that went on his shows over here are nowwhere today.

I for one have always had a problem with "English" judges- judging American talent!

Try winning a talent show if you play anything like metal. I once mentioned playing Gothic metal,and a music instructor for a school never enrolled me because of it.
